Parker 's Tavern. Parker 's Tavern. Parker 's Tavern. Ok....not sure who Parker is but hey, he/she has a really cool tavern on Broadway in the downtown area of Grove City. I went there today after getting my haircut at White 's Barber Shop and figured I 'd check this place out. Smallish place with a nice welcoming brick exterior. Inside was decently sized, not too big but not quite a hole in the wall. Sat down at the bar (only one other guy there) and ordered a Yuengling Black and Tan. Price? $1.75! Excellent....I 'm liking Parker 's Tavern more already. Seems they have specials Monday Friday from Noon to 9 on their domestics.....$1.75? Pretty cheap. There 's a patio out back, a jukebox (newer kind), pool table and darts. So there 's things to do here if you like. The bartender said she 'd been there for a year or so. She was not too friendly at first, just the basic what can I get ya? type. After I ordered a second beer, she kinda warmed up about a book she was reading and talked for a few minutes. It 's not a fancy place by any means and she said they attract mostly locals and they do euchre and do pot lucks during football season. I 'll be back sometime.
So there wasn 't a crazy clientele vibe, but when I was walking in, one of the power-smokers outside said I 'll be right with you and that got me ready for terrible everything. Bartender was buried in her phone. Maybe regulars get service, but I had to struggle to get beers. Maybe I should have worn a dirty t shirt? Or some other way to blend in? I have to be in the area every couple weeks, so maybe I can become a regular? I don 't want to give up yet, but the way I drink, I usually have decent service.
Parker's has become one of my favorite bars. They always have excellent service and cheap prices. They have free food during Ohio State games and discounted beer. They don't have a good selection of craft beer but it's surrounded by bars that do. Parkers is always a good time, I strongly recommend checking it out.
Thought this would be a great place to go but really we haven 't enjoyed it at all and we have been here twice now. They have a $10 minimum if you use a credit card which nowadays not many people like to carry cash on them so that was a red flag right there. I ordered a Captain coke first time for $4 and the second time she 's like "I 'll just make it a double so it 'll be easier to make it $10. Okay...I asked if I could just get one more regular drink instead and include my tip in the tab and she said nope! So I ordered a double and my tab for two drinks all of a sudden came to $13.00. I should have not even left her a tip because she was NOT friendly at all. The drinks were still watered down anyways by the way. Needless to say we will not be back.
