We both ordered a pizza and it turned out to be excellent. The only downsize was the bill, which showed 7€ for a glass of red wine. Our advice would be to carefully check the menu and drink list to avoid such a surprise.
We arrived early (7pm) for dinner and were the first people in the restaurant--a little skeptical at first as the place doesn't look like much. Turned out to be a nice surprise. A very good Italian meal--pastas that seemed local/homemade and lovely salads. A nice little place for a low-key meal when you need a break from French food. The one waiter was running around like a madman by the time we left--the place was packed with locals.
We remember this restaurant from prior visits and enjoyed its quirkiness, and we're sad to see it was u dear obviously new ownership. But not to worry - definitely different but still good. It's now an Italian (mostly) pizza place with lovely white table cloths and a sunny terrace. The pizza was unique and very fresh tasting. Thin crust with cheese, barely noticeable sauce and roquette greens and fresh calamari and shrimp. Light and tasty, perfect for lunch.
Yep, it's a hairsbreadth from being like the real thing you'd get in Italy .... simple dishes that shine through their taste. It's definitely not easy to duplicate that in other countries. So, pretty genuine food and a good Italian wine offering to enjoy it with. The one thing that's difficult to swallow though is their pricing - too expensive for the plates on the menu, probably due to their being in a central location, a hundred metres from the centre of the village.
Yet another change of ownership.... This year's incarnation is a supposed "up market" Italian with a proper pizza. And at the prices they charge it should be..... It's not. There's been no money spent on the decor - all white walls, naked bulbs, train-train seating, but worst of all.... 1 lavatory for guests (male & female) AND the staff. If it was curry-night the day before, the entire restaurants can tell whether it was a Vindaloo or a Madras..... Horrible. The service was slack (2 staff) and all in all a very unpleasant experience.....To misuse a word. entire
