The service was top-notch, meeting all the standards of a 2 AA Rosette establishment. The staff was friendly, the tables were set up perfectly, and they even provided fish-specific cutlery, which was a nice touch. The food quality was outstanding, focusing on freshness and local ingredients, as expected from a 2 AA Rosette restaurant. The menu offered unique dishes like squid croquettes with blue cheese for starters and squash ravioli with monkfish for the main course, which surprisingly paired well together. The other diners also enjoyed their meals. The desserts were delicious, although I was hoping for the rum baba to be more syrupy based on past experiences. The wine selection was excellent, and the dessert wine was a pleasant surprise. One minor issue was the inconsistency in receiving petit fours or palate cleanser sorbet - some tables got them while others did not, which was a bit confusing. Overall, it was a very enjoyable and unforgettable experience, with everything meeting expectations in terms of quality and pricing, except for the confusion with the additional extras.
I had a good experience at Hugo's overall. The crab salad starter was excellent, and the staff were welcoming and attentive. However, the options for main courses were limited and traditional. I chose the lamb, which was tasty but unremarkable, while my partner had the fish, which was also average. The high prices didn't match the casual setting and atmosphere, with wooden floors and noisy children. It felt more like a hotel restaurant rather than a fine dining establishment. I won't be returning.
I dined at this restaurant a few months ago and I have to say, I was in agreement with all the positive reviews it had received at that time. Despite being located in a conference hotel, good food is good food. However, it seems that things have changed since my last visit. The steak was undercooked and the overall quality was not up to par. I used to recommend this restaurant to others, but unfortunately, I can no longer do so. If they are going to charge premium prices, they need to consistently deliver excellent dishes, which was not the case during my most recent visit.
My partner and I went to this restaurant for dinner as a special treat while on our trip. The service was excellent from start to finish. The appetizer of white asparagus was a bit small, but the main course was outstanding. Overall, it was a lovely dining experience, although it was a bit on the expensive side.
