Costa Coffee - Greenwich

Got given the wrong order- then asked for marshmallows instead of cream- I got the opposite! Then the lid wasn’t put on properly and split everywhere- nobody to clean tables

I was killing time so had coffee here. It’s quite a large branch. Service was ok but it wasn’t particularly clean and the tables were not being cleared quickly enough and when cups and plates were eventually removed the tables were not wiped.

I usually have a cortado or cappuccino when I come to Costa and find the quality good but today I went for filter which was bitter.

First of all, I am English, but I can say my coffee tastes are somewhat more sophisticated and genuine than the standards most people are happy with in this country. Nothing beats the Espressos I have experienced in Italy. Black Sheep coffee chain is the only chain that has come close to matching the quality of Italian made coffee. What can I say about Costa. Having visited the Greenwich branch, I was desperate for a coffee and just thought, let's give it a go. I ordered a double ristretto which was clearly listed on the menu. The staff had no clue what I was ordering. I had to repeat 6 times. I ended up being served something which resembled a weak quadruple espresso. It was the most bitter thing I have EVER tasted. Absolutely vile. Costa are known for dumping gallons of milk in a Coffee (even serving mugs with two handles so you can pick up the sheer volume of milk) and now I know why. Summary: IF you want a protein fix and open to paying circa £3.50 for a gallon of cheap preserved milk then go ahead. If you are looking for a genuine coffee experience, like me, stick to making your own or going somewhere decent like Black Sheep or Cafe Nero.
