I called to make sure they were open this time, and the person said they were never closed on Friday unless we run out of the food. it is therefore a thing that causes inconvenience, and another that denies it. Today the visit would have been four stars. I had the French dip (braised short rib, caramelized wobble, havarti cheese, a1 aioli, grilled hoagie- $16), because I heard from several people how good it is. meat was perfectly cooked, juicy and quite tasteful. make sure that if they are not like a lot of sodium, the au jus is quite salty. both colleagues had the club salad (ham, türkei, boiled ei, bacon, cucumber, tomato, cheddar cheese- $18), one with icebergsalat due to a spinach sensitivity. he said that the amount of protein was the half of what it had been on a previous visit. the restaurant is located on the back of the mill, with parking on both sides, but not directly next to the restaurant. we will come back to give it back.
We did not have a great experience here. We came late night like after 8pm and the place wasn't horribly busy but the service was slow and really bad. We had to ask for a menu after waiting over 10 mins and then we asked a question about the daily special that took well over another 10 mins to get an answer. The food itself was good to great. The fried green tomatoes appetizer was delicious, the shrimp and grits were very good, the Mac and cheese was bland, the fried shrimp and catfish were tasty and the drinks were good. Not sure if we would give this place a second chance based on the mostly averagely good food and horrible service.
Vegan options appear more numerous on the lunch menu. For lunch they actually have three listed vegan choices. The dinner was limited to a salad with falafel, a starter or two, and the veggie sides that could be cooked with olive oil instead of butter. I chose two veggies and some falafels. The Brussels were delicious, and a nice portion. Falafel was a little dry without sauce. The zucchini was literally 4 slices... saw a bit like a shrimp, not a $5 page.
There are many vegan options available on the lunch menu. They offer three vegan choices for lunch. However, the dinner options are more limited, with only a salad with falafel, a couple of starters, and vegetable sides cooked with olive oil instead of butter. I opted for two vegetable sides and some falafel. The vegetables were tasty and served in a generous portion. The falafel was a little dry without sauce. The zucchini serving consisted of only four thin slices, which seemed more like a garnish than a $5 side dish.
I recently started working part-time in restaurants and bars, and after making my first delivery to this bistro, I immediately added it to my list of places to visit. A group of six of us went on a Saturday night and despite the busy atmosphere, we were able to secure a good table. The drink selection was interesting, with a house-made tonic in a green bottle catching our attention. We started off by sharing three appetizers; fried green tomatoes, browned watermelon sushi, and six different entrees. My shrimp dish was unique but delicious, and the steak was cooked perfectly rare. The cod, halibut, and salmon received rave reviews from the group as well. Personally, I'm not a fan of tattoos and piercings while dining, but that's just my preference. Our server was friendly and attentive, making it easy to overlook the artwork and appreciate the excellent service they provided. We will definitely be returning and requesting the same server.
