Luckily, I found a promotion on their Instagram page that if you spend $50 you can get a half duck for $5 or spend $100 and get whole duck for $5. We had 7 people with us so it was easy to get to the $100 mark. The first dish to come out was the Peking duck and it was delicious, very Crispy. Only issue I had was the wrappers that come with it came out 15 minutes later and that the skin was not cut as thin so there is still a large amount of fat on the skin. I 've had it where the skin is so thin that it can dip it in sugar and it will dissolve in your mouth!Other plates were the fish fragrance eggplant but with no meat, Chung du fried green beans, salted egg tofu, salt and pepper shrimp, crispy fried Sichuan chicken, beef flat fried noodles, shrimp Singapore noodles, and the whole special grilled fish. The whole grilled fish was my least favorite dish, and it was actually FRIED, not grilled. It was EXTREMELY spicy. I love spicy but this was too much. Stick to the spicy boiled fish with tofu or dry fried fish dishes (haven 't had them here but at other Sichuan restaurants). The servers were all nice but they were not attentive at all... they looked like they were running around and I had to stop them every time for any little thing like napkins, water refills, utensils. Seeing some of the other reviews. This is not an isolated event... they seem to be chronically under staffed.
Great szechuan food. Probably the best sichuan i have tried in Houston (and yes, I have tried mala sichuan and the other restaurants). Peking duck is a must and the salted egg yolk shrimp is amazing. The wontons and appetizers are great as well!!!
We ordered the food here to go. While the portions were pretty decent, the taste of the actual food it self was just ok. Maybe it might have to do with the fact that we didn't get a chance to actually eat it in the restaurant so we'll have to come back and try it again.
You can find almost all the classics of Chinese food in Lao Sze Chuan,l like the Peking Duck so much.
My friend throw me a birthday meal Lao Sze Chuan, and it was a blast! Chinatown Lao Sze Chuan has been unique and amazing , but Katy location also has some new dishes to offer. Delicious is always regardless of locations. The most memorable must be the salted egg yolk shrimp, the shrimp is big enough, the skin is super crispy, the egg yolk is full of flavor, my number 1 recommendation. The saliva chicken made from free-range chicken, it was so flavorful and simply delicious . The most simple dish mustard cucumber has made my day. But I was amazed by Sichuan cold noodles. Simple ingredients are the most difficult to make, but if simple things are done well, Do I need to say anything else? In the season of crawfish , old Chengdu has launched 4 flavors. I tried the YuXiang flavor today, and I instantly felt the taste of returning to the motherland. The garlic flavor will be eaten next week. The double-chili chicken with bone is perfect. The small bones are loose enough to be eaten. Imagine how refreshing it is to pair it with a drink. When I'm hungry this evening , I think i can enjoy it heat up with a beer. The side dishes in the dry pot fat intestines are different and flavorful. I don't know what to eat since we ordered so many. But they are all just speechlessly delish. I didn't even touch my favorite golden soup with fatty beef. Overall, everything is delicious. The food portion is huge and the price is reasonable. Perfect to bring friends families and cater it home. Highly recommended. Will go back and try different flavor or crawfish again.
