Working with Distinctive Catering was great from the food tasting to days after the wedding. They were easy to talk to and got back quickly when I had questions. We did the ultimate signature buffet and upgraded to full service which I am so glad that we did. Picking up linens and returning them was incredibly easy. The food at the wedding was so good! We got so many compliments on everything. There was some miscommunication and confusion around leftovers at the end of the night so I would recommend that you tell them right away on wedding day that you want to keep your leftovers. That was the only issue we had which isn 't even a big deal. Kelli talked to me on the phone about it and said that is something they will improve on in the future so I appreciate them listening to my concerns and taking action. I would definitely use them again and would highly recommend them!
Giving 4 stars though I hovered over 3. JUST like the venue Gable Hill Good luck with the owner. The venue is beautiful . The food was good the servers bartenders were very pleasant. However, I take issue with several things. I paid for cleanup, but I was removing food cups from tables very small wedding . They were not too busy to do that. They weren’t too busy to smoke. My daughter I selected them as the venue required we choose from “their list” regarding catering. We chose them for bar services as well. The booze was fine, but I paid for it so I’ll nitpick. There wasn’t a stir straw to be seen, making all mixed drinks too sour, sweet or strong. After one sip, I spoke to the bartender who poured the drink from cup to cup back forth , stirring it. Problem solved though it wasn’t done for everyone. Where’s a straw? At a bar? Everything ran about 25 min behind The bar hours were set but moved due to the delay. HOWEVER, they still bartenders left at 9pm. Which was early due to running behind since you pay for a specific amount of hours. This was an out of state wedding. We had to drive a total of 3 hours to pickup AND drop off linens ordered. Ridiculous. I’m unsure why the linens could not have been taken with as the only thing they needed were table cloths. there were too many I’m sure I paid for those as well. Better too many than not enough, yes? Sunni was very helpful. There was a lot of confusion especially near the end, as dealing with the venue was no easy task. I own my part in that confusion. They do not. They will not. I have emailed Sunni directly expressed my concerns about everything. I asked for reimbursement of bar time the extra linens. I haven’t received anything. And I don’t expect to. This is only the 2nd review I’ve ever left.. in my entire life. But this was my daughter’s wedding. And bc the venue DC are on a first name basis? I find it prudent.So again.. Food was good. Bartenders were sweet yet lacked proper utensils. Servers were kind but non existent. Administration? Good luck Soldiers. *Tip Speak to them. Don’t email. But always follow up in writing so you have a paper trail. I thank Sunni for her help and I’m just waiting on reimbursement. You have my info. Proceed accordingly.Very important to end with..The wedding was beautiful. The weather was perfect and the bride was stunning.
Rave reviews from our daughters wedding. Prime rib and Tuscan chicken. I heard so many compliments on the mashed potatoes! The caterers we polite and perfessional. It was wonderful!
Starting off we had booked their package with linens for dinner as well as the call package. Moving back to the dinner package, we were told by Distinctive that our venue would not let them use their linens. Weeks of going back and forth it finally come out that Distinctive can’t get the linens they said they were able to because they were experiencing some supply chain issues getting the linens. Now I might now be familier with the other-side of the wedding venue planning but there was more than enough time for the caterer to get us the linens they charged us for. Also on the catering note. We told them we would need an allergy meal for one of our guests due to the gust’s allergies there likely wouldn’t be anything they could eat. Day of they didn’t have the meal that we requested for the person. And by the stars aligning one of our vegan options on the menu was good for them to eat, but the fact was they were asked to do one thing and could not follow through on that.Moving to the bar service, the bar staff day of the wedding tried to not set up a bar for cocktail hour. Luckily the day of coordinator was able to get them to set up. The bar tender then informed a guest who also happened to be the one who paid for the bar that, “you know, people can tip.” This was after they were already given their standard 20% gratuity there was cash in that person’s wallet to give them at the end of the night that was extremely generous.Overall the food was good for a wedding and most of the staff were pleasant with myself and my wife during dinner. However if I had to choose a Vendor again, I likely would not choose to go with Distinctive Catering again, they were difficult to work with and only added to the stresses on the day of the wedding.
