There was one other table of two in there when we went. The service was slow. Normally we do not send food back, but out of 6 things ordered we sent 3 of the dishes back because they tasted so bad. The watermelon in the salad was slimy, the chicken tasted like fish, I guess they never change their grease and when ordering a burger we were told you can only get it well done so that was dry and terrible. Another thing is the floor is all sand so when you get back in your car there is sand all over it because it sticks to your shoes. It is not a beachy atmosphere except the sand which might be a cheap way to cover something up. Beware
Went there with 3 people and order kids cheeseburger Marooned burger and Mac and Cheese. From the time we sat down to the time we got our food it had been almost 2 hours. I had to enquire about our order twice and the server said the kitchen is backed up.( there was like 4 tables including ours in the whole place) When I asked the 2nd time where our food was and she still couldn't tell me what the problem was or how much longer it would be I asked if she could bring fries or something to the table before my kid had a meltdown. She did not. My son was so hungry it started to sob at the table. Once the food came it was awful. The burgers were over cooked and dry and the fires we cold, to pay $15.00 for a kids burger and $16.00 for mine they should have been amazing. The Mac and Cheese was piping hot and was good but not worth $22.00. When the server came to the table to do a quality check once we were pretty much done. (I think she was avoiding our table) I told her the food was terrible but ate it anyway as I could not handle to wait for a recook or her to come over. Once the bill came I would have thought they would have at least comped one drink and maybe an apology from the manager. But that did not happen.I have worked as a server and bartender for years and this was one of the worst experiences I have had, basically because the server or the manager did nothing to recover the experience. All it takes is a little effort.
Brought 4 boats from Marblehead, Ohio on a long excursion, stopping in Grand Bend. Had a rainy day to but stopped in the Sand Bar for drinks and ended up having a fantastic time. Sara, the bartender took care of us as if we were regulars. Her Long Island Ice Teas were top notch and **** Mary's in line with the best. If you want a good drink and the personal touch, stop in and see Sara at the Sand Bar. You will not be disappointed.
As a recently opened restaurant, (formerly JD's) this freshly painted and updated 'bar and grill' has everything going for it! Delightful atmosphere, delicious food and attentive servers....a perfect combination for a wonderful dinner and evening. There are three areas in which to sit....outside at the bar or at one of the three high-top tables, inside at tables or in booths or (our choice) outside at the back patio under the shade of a majestic ancient tree! Each of the three of us dining out that evening chose something different, and we were not disappointed. Everything was excellent! While waiting for our meals we enjoyed a cocktail or two....all presented promptly even though they were extremely busy. I chose the Caprese Flatbread Piizza with fresh Bocconcini cheese, tomatoes, basil and a drizzle of balsamic....delicious! Hubby decided to have the Marooned Burger, a suggestion from our server. She was right as it was outstanding both in flavour and presentation. It was made of lean organic beef topped with Monterey Jack cheese, BBQ sauce, crispy onion straws and jalapenos. Our guest had the Sandbar Wrap full of delicious grilled chicken, pico di gallo, lettuce, three cheeses and a southwest ranch sauce. I would definitely recommend that you try this delightful restaurant.
We visited the Sandbar several times during our week stay in Gran Bend. We had a variety of different things off the menu including steak flat bread (medium rare), seared tuna, and coconut shrimp, which were all excellent choices. The atmosphere, food and staff were amazing. I have recommended the Sandbar to all of my friends and family visiting Grand Bend. An overall 10 out 10 for customer experience.
