The Grafton Inn

However, I spent one night there at the beginning of October and was surprised to find there was no room heater. While it wasn't extremely cold, coming from Arizona, I found it chilly. I noticed this at night but didn’t contact the host since it wasn't unbearably cold, but I would suggest adding a room heater for future guests. The tea and coffee setup was a nice touch. I also want to commend the host for their excellent communication and for allowing me to check in early. Grafton is a delightful small town, filled with trees surrounding the Common across from the Inn, and I thoroughly enjoyed my time there. On the downside, there was no front desk or reception in the building. The room key was in a lockbox, the front door was left open, the lighting inside was dim, and my room—No. 7—was on the third floor along a poorly lit corridor. There was a typical drafty feel when entering an old house, which I found acceptable, but others may not feel the same. A solo traveler might find the atmosphere a bit eerie or unsettling. I stayed there on October 9, 2023. As for walkability, you can easily stroll through this charming town and enjoy the lush greenery.

The room was clean, and the coffee (K-Cup) was good. However, it would have been nice to have more lighting in the hallway near the K-Cup machine, as well as some cream for the coffee. Overall, I would rate the rooms and service as a 4 out of 5, while the location deserves a 5. A highlight of the hotel is its quiet atmosphere.

The room was delightful, featuring fresh linens, a clean bathroom, an old-fashioned fireplace, and antique furniture, all paired with charmingly creaky floors. Nearby activities included a coffee shop, a country store, and a park with a gazebo. A catering deli was just a few steps away for takeout options. For security, we were provided with a traditional key. A noteworthy detail was the soothing sound of church bells, which were a pleasant melody for my hard-of-hearing ears. Hotel highlights included stunning views, a romantic atmosphere, tranquility, and excellent value for the price.

This hotel has no staff on site. The room keys are in a lock box. The grille/tavern is closed indefinitely. I did not feel safe. Safety: Not safe. Rooms: 2 Service: 1 Location: 4
