Big Gary's Fish Chips - Governors Bay

I went here because of the positive reviews. Fool me once.... First impression, Wow, what a clutter. And so was the Chinese food. Egg Fu combination was tasteless slip with an omelette slapped on the top. I got a scoop of chips and fish. Very average. Obviously the earlier reviews are from locals that don't get out much. Wasted $20.

The fish n Chips here are absolutely brilliant my fav are the Bacon and corn patties 15yrs ago i was a customer here and ive returned now and then since I live furthur down south now, but when I'm in Christchurh i always come back and have Big Gary's!

This place is still an all time favorite of mine. I will travel from the other side of town to get this for dinner for my family. Our faves are egg fu Yong, combination fried rice and sweet and sour pork with fish and chips. best to order first so waiting isn't long.

Big Gary's in Aranui rocks. Great family pack deals, best chips ever and prices are awesome. We don't live in the area but its well worth the 15 minute drive to go there.

First time getting Chinese here tonight we arnt sure why it's taken so long as we live so close our regular Chinese takeaways place hadn't been at its best the last couple of times so we decided to give it a go down here and we were wowed! The food was amazing! The chicken was tender and plenty full and the rice was full of cashew nuts added to order with lots of chicken... But it was the sweet and sour pork that blew us away! Aww it was just perfect! The size of the dishes are very very generous and the best part of all was it was super cheap!! Officially converted to big garys Chinese takeaways from here on out! I highly recommend!! ?
