Probably one of the best outdoor dining experiences. fantastic view over the beautiful city goslar,
The Maltermeister Tower with its mountain restaurant is a worthwhile excursion destination that was recommended to us by locals, especially in beautiful weather as well as this day, because the view from the large sun terrace on Goslar is unique, you just have to be careful not to pass the narrow branch of Rammelsberger Straße. So we went on the way by car and also found the way that turns up the road to the tower (420 m above NN). Sufficient parking is available, but not much was going on this afternoon. Some of the stairs are still to be found until you reach the restaurant. The entire large building consists of wood (or at least the facade). Right next to the restaurant is the short round Maltermeister Tower, which was mentioned for the first time in 1548. The tower has its name according to the old space measure for wood, the painter (about 1.5 cubic meters). Around 1740 an apartment for the painter master, the wood manager of the mine, was built into the tower. He had to manage the wood that was needed in the ore pits of Rammelsberg mainly for firing. Couples celebrating their wedding here can stay in these historic walls of the tower in the highest bedroom of the region stylishly. We went right around the restaurant to the back to drink a coffee or the like on the large sun terrace. Only a few guests sat on the massive wooden tables and enjoyed the sun and the wonderful view of the pre-resin. In order to say it in advance, we have unfortunately not been able to see any service and consequently no coffee, even after a longer waiting period. But the unique view of Goslar, in the distance to the industrial area and the stalks and up to the dragon's planes at least compensated something. I went on my way to the interior of the house to explore our chances of a coffee, and to take some photos. The restaurant looks bright and friendly, the tables have fabric tablecloths and are beautifully covered. In the room I don't like the chairs at all, but this is of course a matter of taste. And at my tour through these two rooms I could not find anyone who could have accepted our wishes. So back to the car. When looking again at the entrance door, we noticed the “Smoking Point” sign and we looked at it more closely: when you open the wooden flap, three openings in the wall with foam cushions are visible at the edges, in the middle a large hole through which you put your head outside, and on the right and left of it a smaller one for the arms. The rest of the body remains in the room. This allows guests to smoke in the restaurant without violating the existing laws. Curious idea! Even though we didn't get coffee, the trip was definitely worth it because of the great view of Goslar!
