I would like to start by saying that my wife and I have been passionate about good and valid catering for many years and we like to look for and try places where we can taste and appreciate the quality, talent and seriousness of the restaurateurs and their cuisines. I believe it is right and proper to make known an unpleasant and unpleasant experience that both of us had a few days ago during a dinner at the Grill Restaurant Atmosfere la stüa in Gorizia. From the waiter, who welcomes us, we order an appetizer (courgette flowers in tempura filled with truffle cheese and D 'Osvaldo raw ham) to be divided in two and, as a second course of meat, a Black Angus fillet with a side of grilled potatoes (always to be divided in two). The cost of the fillet is sensible (32 euros) but frankly we had no cheaper alternative for a grilled meat (the other dishes cost much more). After the starter, at the time of the second course, we receive two pieces of fillet with the side dish which my wife and I share. I taste mine and it seems normal to me (honestly not special as I would expect both from the cost and the type of restaurant) while my wife, tasting her part, immediately points out to me that her fillet is not absolutely tender but rather fibrous and not very pleasant in mouth. Perplexed, I pass my portion to my wife and take hers: undoubtedly it is significantly inferior and more woody than my piece of fillet. We immediately point this out to a waitress and after a while the manager arrives and we highlight the clear difference in tenderness and quality of the two parts of fillet, pointing out to him that in our opinion they were two different parts of fillet (as a origin). The manager tells us that the piece is unique and that it was divided after cooking and shows us two vacuum packed packs of fillet as a reference. I point out to him the real fact that one of the two parts is clearly worse, more woody and invite him to taste my part (so he would realize the evidence) and send my plate back with the almost entire fillet. Disconcerted by the manner and attitude of the person in charge (I would say unfriendly and opinionated), we ask for the bill and here comes the very unpleasant and unpleasant surprise: in the bill we are charged in full for the fillet 32 euros (despite having sent it back and having done our grievances promptly). In order not to cause further and very unpleasant controversy in front of other customers, we pay and leave disappointed and embittered. We found ourselves paying 61 euros for having had an appetizer for two, a fillet for two (half sent back, a glass of wine and a mineral water!!!!! (I attach photo of receipt). I would like to point out to the manager that in the context of the negative and unpleasant situation, the restaurant has failed to comply with two fundamental principles of serious catering, namely that of positively and constructively accepting the well founded and reasoned observations and criticisms of customers and the other basic and indispensable not to take into account a dish (in this case part of it) which is sent back with a well specified and motivated negative evaluation). A final addition as further underlining: the prices of the dishes indicated on the receipt are more expensive than those highlighted in the menu on the site. How come? For all this I hope to receive a reasoned response from the restaurant owner. DARIO B.
