When I called to confirm our booking for 3 adults and a baby, it took nearly 5 minutes to be transferred to the restaurant. Upon arrival, we were scolded for entering through the exit doors, which were not clearly marked. Despite the quiet atmosphere due to COVID-19 restrictions, the service was poor. The staff was rude to our guest who was helping with the toddler and refused to allow him to stay for breakfast. The explanation of the system was difficult to understand. Our food arrived cold and despite being told our tea and toast order would be taken, it never happened. Overall, we left feeling dissatisfied and felt like we did not get our money's worth, especially when compared to what our friends paid for a room that same night. The breakfast experience left much to be desired.
We had a reservation, the restaurant was not full, there were plenty empty tables. 1. We asked for water for our daughter, we had to ask for it twice and as it never arrived I went back to our room for her water bottle. Our room was on the other side of the building, where the Amber Family Suits were. After I got back with the water they got us a jar of water. 2. When the starter arrived and I had it in front of me they noticed that they mixed the tables and took my food away. 3. After we had our starter the waiter took away the small plates, which were never used, we only noticed then, that other tables got a selection of bread and butter when they arrived. We were offered it after I told them, but we were already after the starter and was no point to have bread and butter. Then something happened, which made me leave the restaurant and I also reported it to the relevant manager. (They never got back to me about it.
This restaurant offers a wide variety of breakfast options. The dishes are beautifully presented and the staff is incredibly friendly. Customers serve themselves, but tea is brought to the table.
I had breakfast at this restaurant after a midweek break in mid January. It was quiet and there were only a few people there for breakfast. It's a buffet style system where you are shown to your table and then serve yourself. The coffee was bland and the toast was rubbery. The continental section was good with yogurt, fruit, and cheese. I also tried the veggie plate with mushrooms, tomatoes, and beans, but it was just average and didn't really stand out. Overall, I wouldn't rush back for the food.
A large family dinner out for special occasion. Service was very slow and at sometimes chaotic. Starters cold, mains cold and missing sides , mixed up orders. Kids waiting around for their food . No cutlery replaced or missing altogether. Service staff walking around as if it was their fist night on the job . Overall a very very disappointed visit to Kelbys. Will not be returning. 14 adults and 6 kids . Derek Ireland
