Chalet hotel du Grand Ballon

We had a Tarte Flambee followed by a lovely apricot cake at the restaurant. Beautifully cooked/baked and service satisfying. A lot of bees/flies indors was a little disturbing likewise an ongoing restauration which made the environment messy. However in total a nice experience. Beautiful scenery.

We have been at this Etablissement in late December 2015 on a sunny afternoon. I cannot tell how the food or anything else is since we and others as well have been not served at all. When we arrived they told as it will take a couple of minutes to place our order. Ok, fair enough. Then we and our table neighbors realized that other guests arrived later than us could place their orders. We asked the service guy to take our order but he denied because he was not in charge of this part of the restaurant. This was the point I already wanted to leave, but my wife still wanted to stay and wait. After 10 minutes another guy appeared, obviously the one in charge. We and our table neighbors told him what we’d like to order and the guy disappeared. Nothing happened. Meanwhile other guest arrived which have been welcomed by shouting at them “Finito! Finito!”. Our French neighbors on the table started to get very angry. After 20 minutes waiting the guy returned and asked again what we’d like to have. This was really enough. We and our neighbors went up and left. What happened next I never encountered in France. While all of us were leaving, this impertinent and absolutely nonprofessional guy only said get out, get out in his strange Alsatian dialect. Since my wife speaks perfectly French she gave him a piece of her mind about this kind of behavior and manners. Again, I never encountered this kind of behavior anywhere else in France.

Delicious tarte flambee with Munster. Unfortunetly gratine with Munster was sold out. But the taske of tarte was just like heaven. Highly recommend the place and of course the trip to Grand Ballon. Cheers! Justyna Gilbert

For a mountain chalet, the kitchen is very fine and abundant. the team is fantastic, dynamic, young and welcoming. very good time at altitude. I recommend it to all.Cathy b.

On the return of hiking it floats. We decide to stop eating. nice service, quick service, it's good, stays that with 3 teens the portions are a little confused. a larger hair should be provided. the rate remains reasonable, and the framework is top.
