We had tickets for a show at HOTA and were looking around for somewhere nice to grab a quick dinner beforehand. This place had good reviews and was just up the road. The food was fabulous, portions were large, and everything was very reasonably priced. We enjoyed Salt Pepper Soft Shell Crab, Penang Curry Duck and delicious Coconut Rice. They are licensed with a few drink options, and also allow BYO (there’s a bottle shop nearby). A great little find. We’ll be back again.
Cheap and cheerful local Easy parking Well priced with friendly staff. No frills, you will get what you pay for. BYO with very reasonable surcharge.
I 'd never been to this Restaurant it would be an insult to call it a mere cafe which is on the corner of East Cotlew St and Ferry Road in a U shaped high end shopping plaza with good and ample parking. Accordingly, given its surrounds, we expected the food offerings to be pricey. But what a surprise! We went for lunch, entering a tastefully decorated and light filled dining area with plenty of seating, on rather hard plastic chairs or on a metallic bench with thin cushions for added comfort if your own padding is insufficient. The lunch menu is absurdly cheap: The great majority of entrees 4 pieces cost $8.00, three others costing $9.00 and $11.00 2 respectively. My partner 's Chicken Satay with homemade peanut sauce $8.00 was pronounced delicious as were my vegetarian spring rolls with homemade sweet chilli sauce $8.00 . They give you a nice flagon of chilled water and paper cups upon arrival and it 's also BYO beer and wine. The main courses comprise Curries, Stir Fried, Salad, Noodles, Soup and Fried Rice with chicken, be3ef, pork or seafood accompaniment. My partner opted instead for Fish Cakes $8.00 which were also pronounced delicious. As was my stir fried Chicken and Cashews, with boiled steamed? rice $12.00 . The vegetables were bursting with flavour, the chicken pieces plentiful and tender, the dressing subtle and the combination with rice an absolute winner! The service was friendly and welcoming. The only negatives I 'd offer were that the lunch selections did not arrive at the same time so we were playing culinary leap frog or catch up. The other thing is that the windows were fully open, even to the al fresco dining part on the East Cotlew side, so that our dining companion turned out to be one VERY persistent fly! In the height of summer I fear they would be too numerous, and the open air aspects too hot and/or humid to endure. But any other time: go for it! It 's open for lunch Wednesdays Fridays from 11.30am 2.30pm last order 2.00pm and for dinner Monday Saturday 5.00 pm 9,00pm last order at 8.30pm . Take away orders over $30.00 made before 6.00pm receive a 10% discount.
Your sign said you were ‘open’ and it was not even 8pm all I wanted was an easy take away Pad Thai. Very rude to local customers not pleasant ‘service’. Disappointed as I’d recommended this restaurant to others and brought a group along as regulars. Chevron Island Thai restaurants were open at 8pm luckily and whipped up a pad Thai in under ten minutes!!
