A few years back he did a fun rootbeer float cocktail that I have been modyfying and serving to guests ever since. I love his mashed potatoes, reheated in a small skillet with a nice crunchy layer. Peter does fantastic duck breast, and I love the smoke flavor in his steaks. The menu is always different so each time we go it's a new experience with a chef who feels like an an old friend.
Wow! Great place to eat. This is a small place so reservations are the best way to go. Don 't expect a typical restaurant experience. The signage says Bistro Wine. There is a small sign on the door that says Anna 's but it is not easy to see. Imagine you are sitting in someone 's home with a bunch of people you might not know but it doesn 't matter because you are all being care for in a special way. First you are given a warm towel to wipe your hands with. Second you can see the chef cooking your meal. Third, the live music in the background seems to complement this place. As for the wine list... Peter the chef has some serious wines that can complement a great dinner. Far more choices that one would expect for such a small place. The food is well thought out and cooked to perfection. It is a warm, inviting and a welcome change to a typical restaurant experience. A quick note: This is not a place to bring kids.
Carol and Lonnie, Roseburg, OR. We were so happy we followed the advice in kine and went to Anna's by the Sea. We had the sliced beef and vegetables on the AWESOME macaroni and cheese. We would go back just for the mac and cheese. We recommend you have it on the side if it's not included in your meal. The other menu selections looked good, too, and we're sure they would have been just as good, The ambiance was nice, good music and the cook and waiters were so nice. We were sorry they didn't have more people that night for their sake. GO THERE IF YOU CAN. It's just one block up from Ellensburg on 3rd and easy to find. Cheers. Carol and Lonnie B.
What a gem of a spot in Gold Beach! We had the sugar pea salad with a fab lemon dill vinaigrette. Beef medallions on a bed of killer Mac cheese was so unique and tasty. Black rock cod with crispy sweet onions potato puffs were amazing. Then we topped it all off with the cherry popovers. It felt like we were visiting a friend's house that happened 2 b a gourmet comfort food chef from Canada! 10 out of 10 4 this little place with 4 tables and an ample bar.
Cozy Ambiance. We came here on recommendation from our hotel clerk. We thought we had gone through the wrong way and started to walk away because a band was sitting right next to the door, but the band and some of the guests inside waved us in. When we walked in, the guests inside told us that we shouldn't miss the great food. The menu was simple: a few starters, 2 soft drinks (Mexican Coke blackberry honey lemonade), a few main courses, and one dessert. We ordered the salad, tomato soup, the local black cod with succotash and potato puffs, and the shrimp with potato puffs. Everything tasted great. The lemonade tasted amazing. The pea pod salad was very unique and enough to share. The tomato soup was so delicious that I almost forgot to pass it over to my husband when I was done with my half. The best part of the meal was the ambiance. It felt like we were in someone's home rather than in a restaurant. Cookie took our orders, cooked for and served us. Even though we didn't have reservations, he made room for us and continually made sure we were enjoying ourselves. He had one other person helping out and they managed to juggle all their guests in this cozy little nook. What a great experience!
