Eight of us were here for a birthday lunch. First up - the view. If it's beach views you want then you cannot do better. It's about as close to the beach as you can get without getting sand between your toes. Second - parking. You may be lucky (as we were this time) and fluke something quite close. Or you might be parking four or five streets away and having a leisurely stroll there and back (as has happened to us on other occasions). The place is what it is - an old beachside kiosk that's been extended and turned into a cafe. Prices are not unreasonable and they do breakfasts until 12:00 plus a selection of "breakfast snacks" all day as well as lunch items. Servings are generous and they seemed to cope with requests well. For example, we asked for cheese on the Beach Burger and only one piece of fish instead of two in the fish and chips. Both requests were accommodated without any fuss. Service was efficient and effective without being overly friendly - which may or may not be what you want. Our section of the party ordered a toasted bacon and egg sandwich, fish and chips, penne alla panna and the Burger with cheese. All of them were well cooked and the fish and the burger were well presented. The toasted sandwich was just that: a toasted sandwich cut into quarters and on a bread and butter plate. Basic at best. On the other hand, the pasta came swimming in cream sauce and handfuls of shaved parmesan and and ham. Quite over the top. Tasted good, I was told, but it looked a mess. Only other drawback... we were seated next to the open doorway and the sea breeze was, shall we say, bracing. Bring a jumper on a cool day.

Visited this iconic kiosk for saturday lunch last weekend. Warmish day and quite a crowd present. Served quickly in the queue and got a table inside. The wife and I both ordered the BLAT - bacon, lettuce, avocado and tomato toasted sandwich. It came out within 10 minutes and tasty as ... yummo. Lovely combination and the toast itself was crunchy and tasty, arising from having being cooked with a smidgen of butter. Flat white on the side for me, and water. Good time and many thanks
Two visits for coffee. Both times they presented a shot of coffee and just hot milk added. There was little effort in making this coffee. If you like your coffee, this seems not the place.
