Ubiquitous Chip - Glasgow

This restaurant is a longstanding top destination in Glasgow. I noted some less than stellar recent reviews, but our experience was just fine. We ate in the main restaurant. The setting was beautiful and comfortable as well. Our party really enjoyed the steaks. The sea trout was good, perhaps not at the level of its pricing. Overall, the food was good, service was fine, and the pricing did not seem excessive. We’d gladly return on subsequent trips.

This restaurant used to be one of the best in Glasgow but after visiting recently we were very disappointed in the overpriced and underwhelming quality of the food. To pay £6 for a small bowl of potatoes and £4 for bowl of broccoli in addition to a main course which cost £32 was ridiculous.

What an embarrassment to the food industry in a cost of living crisis as well. Having moved back to Scotland from Kent I thought I’d treat my partner to dinner for our Anniversary what a surprise to be served over priced dross I’ve had a better and much cheaper meal in whether-spoons £35 for a steak that’s suppose to come from the Highlands let me tell you that steak is lucky to of cost £5 and it was the size of a £1 note had to buy side dishes of £6 for potatoes and £4 for broccoli. House wine was a cheap bottle of Cote du Rhône stuff what has happened to one of the famous restaurants I use to pick customers up from in my Taxi days. Feel sorry for the lovely waitress she was very efficient at her job.

Disgusted by quality of food . looked forward to the halibut that my wife and I both had. It was badly overcooked and scorched which the chef decided to turn upside down to hide. It was our anniversary so extremely disappointed. WE wrote directly to the restaurant and received a standard reply pointing out that they welcome good and bad opinions . That was it. a patronising computerised impersonal reply. Could not believe a chef would send the food out never mind hiding the incompetence. do not go here.

Lovely food and surroundings. We went for a business lunch and thoroughly enjoyed the food and ambience We were there at lunch which was very quiet. I d like to return when there's more of a buzz Food and wine were 100
