Przekaż informację zwrotnąSignificantly improved since my initial visits when it first opened. I dined with my grandmother one rainy June evening for an early dinner. We were well taken care of with tea and coffee as we waited for dinner service to begin at 5 PM. As is typical at Cafe Source, the Cullen Skink was delicious! My grandmother chose the daily special, which was Sea Bass, while I couldn't resist the crispy brisket salad with house slaw. It was fantastic! The service was very friendly and patient—definitely important when dining out with my 81-year-old grandmother! Everything about this visit was flawless.
Unfortunately, I was disappointed with my stovies. I know there are many variations of stovies, and people often debate how they should be made, but I always thought that stovies referred to a dish cooked on the stove in a big pot, with meat and potatoes thrown together or layered, possibly with onions and gravy or stock. What I received, however, was nothing like what I expected—more akin to mince and tatties. It consisted of chunks of boiled new potatoes, minced meat, bits of sausage, and a small amount of "proper" meat, topped with a poached egg. I tried mashing the potatoes into the mixture, but I didn't enjoy it at all; the flavor was lacking. The egg was the best part of the dish. Nik ordered smoked salmon, which he liked but felt it didn't complement the sweet chili sauce it came with. He also had fish and chips, which he enjoyed. The service was efficient and friendly, and the prices were reasonable, but I wouldn't order stovies here again.
Yet again the same comments. Very friendly and very child friendly, but a slow service. I had beef daube again! It was nicer than last time, more like the first time I came here. The beef was beautifully soft and tasty, and had the right mix of veg to compliment it. I had a treacle tart to finish, and not being a dessert man and not having had treacle tart before I don't think I can only say it was pretty damn tasty.
A total pure disappointment have not visited the place for 6 months or so the place was filthy very dirty especially floor long ginger hair durst dust it really put me off : No no no when come to food hygiene is no option disgusting
Upon looking at the menu, it seemed quite similar to my last visit, but the food we were served was of much higher quality than I remembered. I had a beautiful pan-fried cod wrapped in bacon, served on a bed of potatoes and cherry tomatoes, while my husband enjoyed a chicken Caesar salad. We also ordered starters and shared an incredible Orkney fudge cheesecake with berry coulis for dessert. The service was friendly, and the prices were reasonable at £15 for a three-course meal on the pre-theatre menu. The quality was exactly what we were hoping for. Cafe Source Too truly saved our evening when it seemed like all was lost, and we ended up having a fantastic night out!
