The buffet was extensive with usual mix of continental and cooked food however we found that the hot food was either cold or tepid regardless of the time we went for breakfast. Really not great for the price charged. Our friends didn't have breakfast included and were quite happy to visit the cafeteria in the hotel.
Place very well located, closed in weekend. They offer a menu, 27 euros, good range of dishes. Very well served. The food is good: steak tartar, tunna fish, pasta... Selfmade cakes.
Catalonian gastronomy deserves all good critics which have been done in the international press in the last years. The dinner in the restaurant was booked by the congress organization which I was attending in Gerona. Everything pleased me: the entry, the main dish and the desert. Even more important is that it pleased every one and it was possible to count in our group more than 30 nationalities from the five continents! The only remark I’m not able to leave here is about prices because the dinner was already included in the conference fee. Hope you’ll enjoy your meal in El Pati Verd as much as I did.
Nice restaurant, nice location... But I think I was just happy to be getting a nice warm meal given I'd probably not see fit to serve my dog what I've been eating for the past week. Worth a visit, don't want to be too harsh as it's probably the fault of Ryanair I'm in a bad mood.
One of the frustrations I often have in Spain is the lack of service. This is not so at El Pati Verd, which is a breath of fresh air. Not only is the food really excellent, the value for money is spot on in a country where some restaurants have got too big for their boots. It is also consistent. We have been going there for the last six years, about three or four times a year, and have never had a bad meal or dish there. The wine list is well priced and varied, with some excellent choices you do not find everywhere. The head waiter, Xavier, organises the restaurant and welcomes everyone with professionalism and amiability, while our waitress today and last week, Adriana, was charming. At lunchtime you can select from the a la carte menu or a special lunch menu which has excellent choices for only 25 Euros, including three courses, bread and a glass of wine. Some of the dishes have supplements, which are really worth it. Today I selected a wonderful fresh tomato soup with feta followed by country chicken stuffed with prunes and confit potato. My partner had fresh pasta filled with nuts and gorgonzola cheese, followed by a tuna fillet which he said was amazing. We started with a well priced glass of champagne (around 8 Euros) and accompanied the meal with a bottle of DO Emporda 3 Fincas wine from the recommended list which for the price of less than 10 Euros was a very pleasant surprise. Two weeks ago I had a beautiful creamy leek soup, then lamb cooked moroccan style in a tagine and chocolate souflee. That time we selected a wonderful wine from the Ribero del Duero region at around 27 Euros. This remains a firm favourite and is highly recommended.
