Sushiya - Gilbert

We weren't very impressed with this restaurant. It doesn't hold a candle to Kodo, which is just south on Gilbert. Unfortunately, Kodo is closed on Sundays, so we decided to give this place a try. Everything we ordered was pretty average. The nigiri was decent, but the rolls were just okay. We also had to wait quite a long time for our food. Overall, we won't be returning.

Terrible experience! This was easily the worst Japanese food I've ever tasted. The gyoza were like cardboard and had a flavor reminiscent of microwave meals. My beef teriyaki was inedible; it was so tough that I couldn't even bite through it and had no teriyaki sauce at all. I felt compelled to send it back, which is something I rarely do unless it's really bad. On a positive note, the servers were wonderful. They were friendly and very understanding about my dissatisfaction with the beef, especially since it was due to a new chef. However, the restaurant was filled with smoke to the point that my eyes were watering, which they claimed was normal. We chose to leave soon after. Luckily, there's an In-N-Out Burger just up the street!

Businesses that close down between lunch and dinner are exclusive to those who operate within that window. I'd be interested to see how they managed to stay in business, when they closed down for dine in as, for as long as they did. We all know FULL wellthat next to nobody orders raw fish to go.... you eat it fresh while it cold. Something smells fishy.

I ordered takeout but decided to enjoy a quick appetizer while I waited. The servers were incredibly attentive and friendly—something you don't often find in restaurants these days. Their kind-hearted nature and genuine smiles really made a difference. The sushi chefs, Joe, James, and Jason, were fantastic characters! It was my first time sitting alone at the sushi bar, and I will definitely be returning. The food I took home was amazing; even after stopping for gas and getting home, the miso soup was still piping hot, making it perfect to serve. I’m so glad this place is just a few blocks away from my house!

I visited the restaurant on a Monday evening and was seated immediately. The service was excellent, with both the manager and server checking in on us multiple times to ensure we were satisfied.
