Despite their small size, they were surprisingly filling, and the fries were flavorful. The broken noodles were decent, but they could never compete with authentic Asian noodles. Well, it’s called Melbourne, so perhaps that's how they do things down under. However, there are a few areas for improvement. The chicken lacks flavor, and the red interior lights can be disconcerting, giving the space an unsettling vibe, as you can see from the photos. It almost feels like Carrie might appear in the room at any moment. Overall, it was a great experience. The hostess was fantastic and our server was the loveliest.
Our hostess/ server, Paulina, was fantastic! She seemed to be the only server working, with quite a few tables and she still managed to check on us several times and made sure our cups were never empty. We had the grilled chicken skewers, pork belly egg claypot the orange chicken. As for drinks, we had the lemongrass horchata and the lemongrass daiquiri. Everything was absolutely fabulous! The food is delicious and the drinks didn’t disappoint!
Some good food could work on the service or expediting of the food ordered. My only complaint would be to bring all the food out at the same time not just 1 or 2 plates at a time so others are waiting. And to keep waters full at the tables. Other than that was ok. Pricey to eat here tho so if you plan to eat here open that wallet or purse not cheap....
I wanted to like this place as it had been recommended numerous times. Maybe it wasn't the best choice for Mother's Day to take my wife, her mom, and her Aunt as they clearly were not trained or prepared for the influx in business (I say that as I look around the restaurant and see plenty of empty tables so I really am not sure if they had an increase in business). Our reservation was for 1:30pm and the hostess that greeted us was pleasant. I tried to order the egg and pork belly clay pot and was told they were out (seemed rather early in the day to run out of a main dish...but I digress). So I ordered the Kimchi burger. Little did I know it world be the first dish delivered and I waited respectfully for the other dishes to arrive for our party of 6...and waited....and waited until the rest of my party told me just to eat because my burger was getting cold. Mind you we had also ordered an appetizer which was nowhere to be found. At least 10 minutes went by before we saw another dish, yet 2 people in our party were still waiting for food (both Mom's waiting on Mother's Day). At least another 5 minutes went by and our appetizer finally showed up so we asked when we can expect the final 2 dishes (by this time I had finished my meal) and we were told they were coming soon but the kitchen was backed up. We understood being backed up but why were our dishes fired at different times. I would have rather waited longer than having our dishes arrive staggered over a 20+ minute window. Or at least have our server or manager aware that the kitchen was not sending completed orders out of the kitchen. But we didn't get so much as an apology or acknowledgment for the chaos. While the food was fine once we received it, it was embarrassing to have selected Belly to celebrate the Mothers in our life only to not actually be able to eat our meal at the same time. I cannot in good conscience recommend this place. Especially with all the other dining choices in the area. Also, even though I was aware of the policy, forcing us to leave a 20% tip because we had a party of 6 under the circumstances seems like a bit of insult to injury since I don't feel our server did anything to ensure our business was appreciated.
Great atmosphere and the happy hour is awesome. The food is very rich and perfect for sharing with some friends. Drinks were great too.
