R&D House is the KOREAN restaurant extension of Ahi Revolving Sushi; it's in the same building, just in a different room. While new to the Gilbert area, R&D House has become one of my new favorites, especially now that I can eat. For dinner, we were served a variety of delicious foods. We got the Bulgogi, Spicy Pork, Onion Fries, Gombitang, Spicy Tofu Soup, Dumpling Pancakes, and of course, some Ban Chan (Korean side dishes). Everything was absolutely amazing, but my favorites would have to be the Spicy Pork and Dumpling Pancake. The Spicy Pork was super tender and juicy, and was stir fried in their SECRET spicy sauce with assorted vegetables, like onions and carrots. It was filled with all kinds of the BEST flavors. And to be honest, I can't handle spicy food well, but in this case, I couldn't resist. It was too good!! Now, onto the true star of the show, the Dumpling Pancake. I'm not exaggerating when I say I could've finished the entire thing on my own. It was honestly the best dumplings I've had in Arizona so far. From what I can see, it looks like the dumplings were first steamed and then pan fried into a pancake. The dumplings were paired with this sweet sauce made in house, which was literally the perfect combination. Sad... I should've kept track of how many I ate. I mean, if I were to guess, I'm sure it was well over 10 (it's a lot to me) Anyway, if you're ever in the area, do come visit!! AND they'll be doing a promotion for30% OFF your entire meal until NOVEMBER 30th, 2019!!
I love sushi and always have a good- great experience at other revolving sushi restaurants. Until I came here on my birthday July 3rd. My husband took me here because we wanted to get a bite to eat before going to our main function. As soon as we pulled up it looked like it was closed. When we turned the corner we saw the open sign was on and decided to go in to at least give it a shot. We were eventually greeted by a staff member and seated at the bar . There was no one in the bar making anything and the RAW FISH in the refrigerators eye level to us had the doors open. The fish was wrapped in plastic and the color looked off. I always get the Salmon nigiri so I grabbed the first plate that came around. But as soon as I poured a dash of soy sauce on the salmon I was greeted with the most disgusting sight imaginable. I 'm not exactly sure what kind of bugs they were but there were TWO, count them, TWO on the salmon. My husband ate a California Roll and thank goodness he didn 't get sick. There was only one frantic employee working that I could see and I 'm not sure why they 're even open. This place is disgusting..
For the price, this is great to take the kids to get them to try different rolls. We went at lunch time so there wasn't a huge variety to choose from but when asked they did make additional choices. Katie was our server and she was happy, helpful and had a wonderful smile! Her customer service was awesome, thank you Katie.
DO NOT GO HERE! There is nothing fresh about the 3 rolls you are able to choose from on the belt. Room temperature and old. I cringe to think of what the walk-in looks like. I had one piece of the eel roll. Spit it out and dismantled the 2 remaining pieces, trying to figure out why it tasted like old grease charcoal. It was old and burnt. Never tasted (or want to again) anything like it. My friend tried the crunchy roll and immediately said it tasted like aerosolized paint. THE FISH HAD TURNED!!! My friend broke out in hives in about 2 minutes flat. What kind of chef or cook would put something out like that?! We immediately got up to pay for the 2 plates and the cook was staring at us and yelling and waving to a staff member in a foreign language pointing at us. Thanks for that feel good moment. Luckily the gentleman at the front listened to our complaints. He didn't even seem suprised. But he did let us just leave, so I really appreciate him for that. I understand its conveyor belt sushi. My standards are not high. But I will never be ok with people pumping out food that they know will make you sick.
This is my favorite revolving sushi spot in the area. The taste and service are fantastic, and it's really affordable—just check out my pictures; we always eat a lot here, haha! I've seen some other reviews criticizing the appearance of the rice, but trust me, it's delicious! Overall, the sushi is tasty, the atmosphere is pleasant, the service is excellent, and the prices are great. I'm very satisfied!
