Ambigu Gijon

Fantastic location, but the service was the complete opposite. My girlfriend and I went for a coffee and were told that the wait time would be a few extra minutes which we accepted. After waiting 30 minutes for two coffees we saw at least four groups coming ordering coffees and getting them within minutes. There was a feeling that as I was a tourist there was less care in taking the order however my girlfriend is born and raise in Gijon. After the 30 minutes to the surprise to the waiter she canceled the coffee and complained that others were served within minutes and wanted to know why to which there was no answer. She was told that the order could be ready now, but at that point it was way too late unfortunately.

We came here for an evening meal on the spur of the moment and didn't expect much as on first impression it was not our usual choice of restaurant. However, we were pleasantly surprised. It is a bright cheerful place, with equally bright and cheerful staf who went out of their way to be helpful when they realised we spoke so little Spanish. I enjoyed the best Black Arroz I have ever had; full flavoured with squid and prawns. My husband's seafood spaghetti was equally good. The meal was beautifully served with an amusee bouche, bread and olives and a bottle of sidre, by smiling attentive staff. To top it all they happened to be playing our favourite 70's rock music. Brilliant!

We only came for coffee and ice cream mid afternoon, after lunch somewhere else. Amazing views over Gijon, small play area for kids and good service. Highly recommended.

We were several, with reserve, in the inner dining room. a big table and enough. They treated us quickly, explaining recommendations out of a letter. In the end, we decided to order rations to bite. We ordered two rations of guacamole, two of croquettes, two of potatoes with three sauces, two of fried squids and two of gabardina-like shrimps. In general, everything well presented and a few things better than others, the average was fine.Posts: ask for a tiramisu, I thought it would be richer. drinks: two bot. of godello, water and soda. the service very correct and agile. we went out to e/pax.

We ordered nice with chipirones and black rice, the pretty one was rich, in black rice fish of excess chipirones although it is fine. The deal was good and the place is nice.
