Annie's On 290 - Giddings

They were out of etoufee AND gumbo on a Friday afternoon. They were out of many menu items. Why even open at that point? I ordered the catfish pasta and it was bland. Big waste of money.

We live 5 hrs away and stopped in at Annie's on our way home. You need to check this place out. Very friendly. Great food. We will definitely stop here again next time we come thru! Plenty of food on your plate. Thanks Annie's ?

We went fairly late in the day, about 3:30 pm. They were sold out of a few things, which was not unexpected after lunch. My husband and I both got fried catfish, the fried okra, and I got the green beans, he got the coleslaw. Everything was DELICIOUS! Huge veggie portions, good sized catfish, neither of us could finish our whole meal. I'm a big veggie critic, and the beans were wonderfully peppery, the coleslaw was crunchy and fresh. I wish they had crawfish, but someone bought their whole day's supply, so maybe next time! Stop in, it's all worth it.

Annie's on 290 IS OPEN as of April 2023. Sometimes their hours vary due to staffing and supply issues. They are well known for their Cajun food with seasonal Cajun delicacies and it is a bit of a secret but they also make an excellent grilled chicken and red Cajun potatoes bowl and grilled or fried chicken salad that are both out of this world for those of you who are the odd duck (no pun intended and no..they don't serve fancy pants duck or the like) in your seafood loving family. Service speed varies as the kitchen is small and the hours are only semi firm as mentioned earlier. Some of the pics you'll find on the web are out of date as they expanded at some point. If you are making this a destination dining experience or are plotting where to eat traveling on 290 to/from Houston/Austin call ahead.

Best fish I've ever had in my life and I'm a country boy from Arkansas. I met someone there to conduct some business and grabbed a bite. I will definitely drive the 50 plus mile's from Round Rock to eat there again. Annie is a sweetheart!
