This is a wonderful family-run boutique wine farm hidden in a tranquil corner of the Outeniqua Mountains. If you're looking for flashy, commercial wine estates, this isn't the place for you! The owners are exceptionally hospitable and welcoming. We stayed in one of the self-catering cottages, which was cozy and clean, offering a warm escape from the chilly Cape winter. The fireplace was ideal for keeping us warm. The food menu is intentionally limited, but that's because all the meals are thoughtfully prepared on-site. I highly recommend ordering the hamburgers for lunch and the roosterkoek for breakfast.

This restaurant is located in a breathtaking mountainous setting, making it a must-see destination when you're in the vicinity. Don’t miss the chance to take the scenic route through Montagu Pass. They provide both indoor and outdoor seating, contributing to a lovely ambiance.

Don’t let the rough road deter you from visiting this restaurant. Although it's a gravel path, our small rental car handled it without any issues. This spot is absolutely worth the journey! The breathtaking views, paired with a wonderful wine tasting and a delicious meat and cheese platter, are what earned this place my five-star rating. The service was outstanding too. It’s a perfect stop along the Garden Route.

If you ask me, what I can recommend in the Wilderness area, that , with a calm heart, I will say it is wine farm Herold. This is the place, where you should definitely be, if you happen to be in the area. Wines grown in the highlands have their own inimitable taste. Come here and test the wines on the farm- unforgettable impression. We have tested these wines before and now we just buy them. I am happy for the owner of the farm, that more and more people find his farm and wines excellent.
