Given flyers for two specials, one Roast Pork with sweet potatoes or a Guinness Pie with potatoes, no communication from waiter re specials just handed flyers. When we went to order waiter said we only have two pies left. So one of the three of us that had gone to order pies said can i have the Roast Pork with normal potatoes instead of sweet potatoes, told no we don't have enough plain potatoes left. When food came it was Guinness pie small pie with a few potatoes and a few peas, nothing else plate looked very sparse. This was $29. Somebody else ordered Murphy burger which was a small burger in a plastic basket with a handful of chips. Food was placed on table for us to pass around for whose meal it was, waiter did not do this. We later asked another waiter if we could get coffees his reply was yes, then promptly walked off without asking for orders. We ordered at the bar coffees which again was passed around by us and they were luke warm. We had been to Murphy's several times pre covid and really enjoyed it there, but won't be back after this meal.
Tuesday Parmi Night. We both had different Parmi meals which we enjoyed. They were very reasonably priced. The staff were friendly and great service, quite a busy local Pub.
Murphy's has a covered deck so weather is not an issue. The view is fantastic, overlooking Corio Bay towards the You Yangs. The food is delicious and the service is top-notch. Murphy's is a hidden gem in Geelong.
Was there with another couple, there was meant to be 5 of us but 1 person was unable to join us. We got shown our table, we waited for what seem like ages before one person went up to the bar to order drinks where he was quickly and rudely told it was waiter service we certainly were waiting) we finally got some menus when the waitress bought the drinks over. When we wanted to order we had to get the attention of a waitress as we had been waiting for ages. After placing our orders we ordered some more drinks, the guys wanted to order schooners but were told they would have to go upstairs for them to the other bar and when i asked about their gin selection i was told they had Bombay, i asked about another brand was told i could go upstairs to their other bar if i wanted it so much for table service)Entrees finally came out which were good but we had barely finished and the dishes were still on the table when mains came out.Beef and Guiness pies were very nice ans so was the schnitzel. The paella was a bit of a strange dish, it came out with shaved parmesan???? and there was lack of seasoning or something. Chocolate Brownie for dessert was hard and extremely dry and crumbly. Disappointing service and food some of it). We were surprised as we had been to their parmi night 2 weeks earlier and loved our food and the service it must depend on who you get to serve you there)Their online menu is different to what we were given so the additional dishes online might only be for the upstairs bar as that seems to have everything while downstairs you get the dregs.
I had a 30th Birthday function in the dining area on the weekend. The staff were incredible and very accommodating. Michelle and Amrit are fantastic managers and made sure everything when accordingly. They set up everything for me after the dining service as a cocktail area with a dance floor they allowed me to hire their decks as I had a friend DJ for the night. The food was great and came out timely as requested. They allowed me to have balloons delivered earlier in the afternoon. Kelly behind the bar brought out her camera and took photos of me and my friends and family. They rustled up some candles and brought out the cake during the night. I would give these guys a 10/10 and would 100% recommend having a function here. I had an absolute ball! :
