Marlo 's House really stands by it 's name, it 's food you would get at someone 's house, it seems, rather than a restaurant. Talk about home cooking this place has it nailed down! The catfish is delicious and the fresh, homemade bread is some of the best I 've had. I definitely recommend buying some for later, you will want it! The service was also very homey, extremely friendly and courteous. The atmosphere is really fun and unique, I think this place is a must when you 're in Garland!
Got to love the Deserts. The Sugar Free Show off is delightful. Have to try the authentic Mennonite foods. Haven't found anything like this around here. They now have meals to take home that taste like it was made in the restaurant, so I can now entertain guest and serve great tasting food that looks like it was prepared at a restaurant. Thank you. I will be back.
Great ethnic foods with some of the best American dishes that just can't be compared to any other restaurant out there. The quietest restaurant that I have been at in a long time. I feel like I can take my time and relax and just feel better. I bet if you’re like me you will want to tell everybody about this diamond in the rough. I recommend the great desserts; the signature dishes which I dare you to find anybody around here that cooks anything close to this. On the way out grab some cookies for the ride home, and some fresh bread and some strawberry rhubarb jam.
Marlo's is a nice family run restaurant with a German/Swiss style of food. The food is really just good home style cooking, but some items on the menu are a little different from standard Texas fare. The baked pork chop (more like a pork loin to me) is probably the best I've ever had anywhere except maybe my grandmother's (and she's not around anymore). The pan fried catfish is another great meal, but it's not your typical Texas style with cornmeal breading. I'm not sure what they use, but its gooooooddd! The home baked bread is excellent. Not a place for skinny supermodels to stop. Give it a try; look for the Amish buggy out front.
