Though it's only served on the weekends, the pork goyza is, hands down, the best in Los Angeles. I've eaten my way through the city's goyza and this one is the closet to what you'd find in Japan. Perfectly seared exterior, soft, moist interior, with a hint of napa cabbage. The rolls are great, among the better in LA, the dough just soft enough without being too chewy. And the Taiwan ramen is delicious coming from someone not big on ramen. The broth is light, but deeply flavorful while the napa cabbage and spice make it both delicate and complex. I also love that I can shop in the grocery store afterwards. Very humble, but a stand out.
My daughter and I shared a late afternoon snack/dinner at Nikuman. We arrived around 5:00 looking forward to trying the pork gyoza, which they only make on the weekend. We took the very last order of the gyoza; so we ordered the small pork dumplings. While the gyoza which we had been looking forward to eating were very good, the steamed dumplings were the hit of our experience. Nicely soft and tender outside with a delectable filling; the dipping sauce was outstanding as well. If you are a dumpling/bao/gyoza connoisseur, I highly recommend going to Nikuman-ya!
Take Out or Eat in Tokyo Central Market, Great Fresh Delicious Bao's, Yakisoba, Shimpai
My Taiwanese frien introduced me to Nikuman-ya for thei pork bao. I saw the size of them and they are extra large sized and fairly priced at $3.75 for one. The one I had on site was fresh and very, very hot. My bao stayed hot the entire time I ate it. Nikuman-ya is in a food court of an indoor market, so seating is at rhe tables in the food court.
