From the dipping fish sauce (nuoc mam), grilled Bun Cha Ha Noi dish, Bun Rieu, Salad etc..nothing were fresh. We were there at 11.30AM on Saturday, their restaurant was empty, we were the only eaters. We ordered some to take home, they even did not give us utensils or napkins to go with order out. Grilled meat were super dried, smelly because they were days old, being re-heated, so dark, chewey like rubber. We spent $100 or more to be angry that this restaurant has no respect for their clients. The impression we all had were they reheat the left over instead of tossing out. Nothing on their menu is under $14. The 4 eggrolls with no noodles was $15. The dipping sauce for the eggroll was water/sugar/super lite yellow color (like tea color), no lime/lemon, no chili. I do cook. I wont eat there even they are free at cost. I hope the owner of this restaurant do read my review here and DO RESPECT your eaters. They are smart, once they know you focus on making profit instead of bringing good dishes on the table. No one will return to the restaurant.
I ordered the Bun Cha Ha Noi since it was in the area and saw some reviews here. The Bun Cha Ha Noi was the worst I ever had. The meat was dry and burnt and same as the meat patty. They gave you 2 tiny patties and they both burnt and were very dry. I will never have bun cha here again. I used to have Bun Vit Mang here in the past and it was good but it was like 10 years ago
I came in today to order a Canh Bun Rieu Binh Minh to go. This old Vietnamese man took my order. He upsold me by asking me if I wanted extras like snails, pork blood, tofu, etc. I said 'yes ' thinking to myself that I would get more. Unfortunately, I was way off. When I got home, not only did they not give me the usual napkin, plastic spoon, and chopstick that accompanies a typical to go order, but my order was the same size as if they had replaced the usual stuff that comes with Canh Bun Rieu Binh Minh with the extras that I got. In effect, the size ended up being the SAME, except with more expensive ingredients. Do you know what it cost me? $17!!! What a RIP OFF!!! The cashier and the waiter who are now running the business are rude. Years ago, there was a Vietnamese woman who was running the business. She was very respectful to her customers. Whenever I was there, business was busy, which is a good sign. However, today when I was there after a long hiatus, there were only 4 other customers, which is in sharp contrast to the full pho restaurant next door. They were all old Vietnamese people in their 70s or 80s. I suppose when you are that old, you are used to bad customer service because that is the Old School Vietnamese way of doing business.
It's at least $15 a bowl but I feel like it's worth it for the authenticity and guaranteed deliciousness. There are cheaper places but there might not be seats or it's a lot more casual eating experience since the usinessrs ate mainly for to food. I got the bun rieu Cha ca. The Rieu/crab was perfect fall apart fluffy with a little give. The Cha ca/fish cake slices were a little thin but so flavorful. I could see and taste the literal pieces of fresh dill in the Cha ca/fish cake. The bowl looked a lot better than my pic but it legit smelled so good I started eating before I remembered to take a pic. There was a vegetable plate included that I also forgot to take a pic of. The other two people got canh bun which they seemed happy with. We all shared a pot of hot tea which was brewed strong.
One of my go to restaurant. I always ordered the grill pork with meat patties. Grill pork was a bit overdone but still tasted good , Other people in the group ordered Korean ribs with rice was also good. Grilled pork chop was, also over cooked but tasted ok. Haven't tried soup dishes, may be next time.
