However, seeing the long line and knowing my husband's aversion to waiting for food (unlike me!), we decided to dine at Tartare instead. And I am so glad we did! If I could give Tartare six stars, I would. The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere, with beautiful interior design that is both unique and captivating. The menu may be small, but every item listed sounds amazing. We took the recommendation of our waiter, who was exceptional, and enjoyed a delicious steak sandwich, scrambled eggs with pork belly, and sourdough bread with salted butter. My husband even remarked that it was the best bread he had ever tasted in Ireland. We felt comfortable, well taken care of, and had a fantastic dining experience overall. It's no surprise that Tartare is mentioned in the Michelin Guide. If I find myself back in Galway, I will definitely return for dinner.
The best meal we had in Galway with a lovely atmosphere at the restaurant, however, the service was incredibly slow. Don't expect a quick meal, but I still recommend it for the delicious food and ambiance. Try the smoked salmon and olives!
Oh my goodness, what a delightful experience! The food was exceptional, with my favorite dish being the tartare with pickled onions and a delicious smoky egg yolk mixture. A close second (if I even have to rank) was the lamb from Connemara, which simply melted in my mouth. We also enjoyed a few of the many wines available, including a chilled red from Portugal that was outstanding. The evening was absolutely fabulous, with the friendly servers and relaxed atmosphere only adding to the enjoyment. I would give this experience a perfect 10 out of 10.
Went here for a glass of wine after anair and the great service continued. As tartare is almost used as a training ground for anair. Went back and had the best soup and toastie sandwich ever with a great coffeed and a beautiful organic galss of wine. Using amazing produce to pure tastiness would be a regular if I lived in Galway.
Tartare changes at 6pm. Before that it is a late breakfast/lunch bar. At the magic hour it transforms into a wine bar and Michelin Bib Gourmand small-plate snackery. We had a superb experience there enjoying a light evening meal of oysters, lobster croquettes and cheeses plus a few glasses from their carefully curated wine list. Service was excellent. Tartare is superb, but be sure to check their website before you go so you know what to expect. Most of the poor reviews on here didn’t bother to do that.
