I visited SULT with a couple of friends for a casual lunch. I found the food was very tasty and the service was excellent. The place was clean and there was a friendly atmosphere. Would return.
While in during SU Hustings, my friend and I were hoping to enjoy some refreshing pints and listen to our future SU electives. Sadly, we were disappointed. To start off we had 1 good pint of fosters each. After finishing these, we were left waiting for a few minutes whilst 2 of the bar staff chatted amongst themselves whilst making eye contact with me on two occasions. I then ordered 2 more fosters off a brown haired girl with red framed glasses, who I can’t name as she wasn’t wearing any name badge, and received a terrible service. The pints had little to no ‘head’ on them. Having experience in a bar myself I can’t see why she didn’t know how to serve a pint or even ask her managers/coworkers how to pour a pint correctly? I handed her my SU card and told her I’d pay by card, she took the SU card to scan and hastily placed it back on bar without offering to hand it to me? Bad service. I tapped with my phone and she didn’t even say thank you for my custom, or hand out the pints she left them sitting on the beer mat nearly out of reach. I had to re-pour my pint into my previous glass as I wanted a fresh pint with ‘head’. Next, what looked like the manager, came out, to wipe the bar, without even saying excuse me and made us feel uncomfortable. My friend then ordered a third round, to which we received the same terrible service and she again left the SU card, and his debit card, on the beer mat by the pints(again without head). She did not show him how much she was charging and tapped his card without asking, and did not hand back a receipt? The card could also have been picked up by someone else and taken. Terrible manners. No thank you either. I mean it’s not hard to find/train in new bar staff. I suggest the owners/management take this review seriously and take action with their staff regarding training. I have been here on a few occasions and more times than not, the staff have been disappointing in service.
Went to sult or most commonly known as the college bar for the su elections. I ordered 2 fosters for my friend and I, we were served by a member of bar staff who I can’t name because she wasn’t wearing a name tag. From the start she was rude and unfriendly. I gave her my debit card and when. She returned it she left it on the counter and didn’t tell me. Luckily I looked back to see my debit card on the open counter and picked it up. It is common decency to hand cash back... especially a card which could be taken by someone. The pint was horrible and little effort made to it.
Visited three times during the Arts Festival. On each occasion they had either sold out of Heineken, white wine, or said they weren't yet serving food, while standing at a fully stocked deli. We sat outside, a lady went in to alert staff to some broken glass on the patio. A man came out with a brush and dustpan, cleaned up the glass and studiously ignored any other rubbish swirling around in the wind. This place couldn't have been any more lacklustre.
