Besides both were cooked in a mocking manner, proving to be not a Michelin tasty dish but a true Michelin rubber tyre, they brought me instead of grilled pulp the whole octopus, charging us for 50 Eur, the most expensive grilled octopus I ever ate, prices in best restaurants in Gallipoli not exceeding 14-18 Eur. The price of the dish was 14 Eur initially but they insisted I have to pay 50 for reasons I could not understand. Try to avoid this place even if they lure you to take a seat. Bad food, overpriced, they charge you more than the menu list', besides the receipt was handwritten not leasable, instead of a regular printed bill as all others do' So when you see the name Trattoria La Paranza, there is one word only : Run. This restaurant is a shame to the address of all this town.
We were invited by our Cousin from Gallipoli. Red shrimps ..raw..Ricci...Oisters..everything fingerlicking good. Beautiful glass of Bellavista.. Grazie Fabio..que buonta!
Open air Seafood restaurant located just at the beginning of the gallipoli downtown. I reccomend raw seashells, clams appetizer. Reasobly priced (average with the rest of local restaurant.
I 'm a bit confused by other reviews of this restaurant. I found it to be one of the best meals on my trip to Puglia. 1st, Gallipoli is a lovely Greek-like town, with beautiful blue water, colorful fishing boats and a lot of history and amazing architecture. I wish I had time to see more of it. I 'd like to return some day. Our main purpose for this stop was to have lunch and for me to eat my 1st sea urchin. It was late and not many places were open. This is a problem in Puglia for tourists. They really do shut down and take a siesta. We were lucky to find La Paranza open. I was leery that we were the only diners. Unfortunately, they had no sea urchins. We opted to eat outside on the patio. Trees hid the view of the fishermen and their stalls. This place was my 1st taste of Pugliese olives which arrived complimentary. OMG....I attacked the bowl of green olives like a bowl of popcorn. So meaty and delicious. The bread was also excellent. I love fish but am often hesitant to order it. If it is the slightest bit over-cooked, I hate it. My swordfish with lemon and oil was one of the best dishes ever. I also ordered a beautiful fresh salad. The tomatoes all over Puglia were exceptional. A friend had fried calamari which was probably just okay. Another had spaghetti and mussels which he shared, and I liked that a lot, too. Local red wine was reasonably priced and sold in small bottles, perfect for us. I loved my meal. Euro 56 for 3 people with wine. Luckily, as we were leaving La Paranza, the fish stalls were starting to open up again. A kind fisherman at the La Lampara stall fed me 2 spoonfuls of sea urchin which I loved. I will never forget this very special travel memory.
Fantastic fresh fishes and moussels...The 'scorfano ' (red fish) I had eaten (carpaccio) was the best fresh ofod in my life...realy a masterpeace...much better than any sushi....with compliments to the cook...an artist...and to the waiters, too....The value is right...excellent food justifies the price...otherwise, please go to an any 'eat all you can... ' and good luck!
