You think so little of me that you make me use a touch screen that barley works to save a few pennies. No, I'm done along with the other places that don't provide customer service anymore. BTW the shift leader was awesome, helpful and nice. Every time I come here nobody's here in the dining area. It's the cashier yourself bit!
Order on like a laptop. Real easy to follow. One takes cash if u like that way. All 3 will take cards.
We used to love to bring our little ones in here. They loved the paper hats, the service and the huge variety of shakes. We hadn 't been here in 4 yrs. The whole parking lot was empty. We walked into two ordering kiosks. With two workers...What? No customer in sight, but me and my husband. We ordered our meals, after finding our way around the touchscreen. The staff members said Unfortunately, ALL Steak 'n Shakes are like this. We found the Tip Jar comical as we basically served ourselves. The food was delivered quickly and we never saw an employee after that. I got the 5 way Chili Mac, it was good. My husband got a triple burger and cheese fries. We really miss the interaction of servers. It just felt really distant, quiet and cold. The nostalgia of families gathering for dinner and a treat is now gone. We weren 't greeted or a simple thank you, have a great day or any well wish of anything as we left..... quietly. We can make our burgers and chili macs at home from now on. So sad to see establishments and food chains come to this.
Just had the worst experience I’ve had at our local Steak ‘n Shake.Went through the drive. Order taking went well. Pulled forward to the window, where we sat for five minutes without so much as a smile from the worker inside.When we were finally spoken to, she simply said the order total (which was around $50). I handed my card over and she took the payment.She then started to hand out our drinks in a drink carrier. I told her we didn’t need the drink carrier. She let out an audible sigh and sat the drink carrier back down and handed us our drinks.The last drink’s lid kept coming off, and she stood with her hand out for a few extra seconds holding our bags of food. I apologized and told her the lid kept popping off the drink.She flippantly replied, “Yeah. They do that. That’s why we give you the carriers.”Considering the parking lot had 3 cars in it and only myself and another in the drive through, you would think they’d rather not crack wise to their customers. Especially those spending $50 in their drive thru.
I went to Steak 'n Shake last night for the first time in quite a while. You are no longer waited on by a waitress. You place your own order, and pick it up yourself at the counter when they call your name. With that, they have the gall to ask if you want to leave a tip! I got my bacon and cheese double with ONE SLICE OF BURNT BACON! I give the food two stars only because the burger fries were good. It was the first time in a long time, it will be much longer before I go back.
