So I happen to be 150 miles north in the college town of Gainesville. A bunch of us went to Taste for lunch, the food we got was notches higher than what I get back home. I think every time I 'm visiting family in Gainesville I now want to go to Taste, lol. I wish I knew our server 's name. He was in his 20s was a true delight, taking great care of us. I ordered the Red Curry Tofu over white rice. I often get this or a similar dish at most Thai restaurants. My first bite I knew we had a winner. The flavoring was excellent with Red Curry balanced by Coconut Milk, balanced by basil, balanced by lime juice. The veggies were super fresh I didn 't want it to end. Gainesville beats out Tampa Bay on this one.
Pretty decent pho. The duck was good only a little dry. The crab wonton had a long hair fried into the center of it. Kinda grossed me out, but i understand these things happen. Overall the restaurant was clean. The service was excellent, the staff was very nice and attentive. I would come again.
The staff is incredibly helpful with take out orders. My favorites are Tom Yum and yellow curry. But try the others. so many delicious options.
I hadn't been to Taste in a while, and I was on the way home from a long day at a fair, and I wanted something to eat that wasn't going to be fair food nor was it going to be fast food. I had thought of all the different places that were along my route home, but it wasn't until I was passing by this area that I remembered that Taste was here and that I could grab something there... so I did! The place hasn't really changed that much. There is outdoor seating, which I might have been inclined to sit at except it was nighttime, I wanted to read my book, and I had been outside all day as it was. So inside at a small table was perfect for me. I started out with the summer rolls, which were quite good. From there I went for a volcano roll and the pad thai. When asked how hot I would like the pad thai, I said to max it out. That got looks of disbelief, which is what I am accustomed to. The volcano roll was excellent as always, and I have always loved getting it from Taste. The pad thai? Well, guess what... it wasn't spicy enough... I knew it wouldn't be. No one ever believes that the white guy really means it when he says to max it out. I had to ask for the house chili sauce to add to it, and dumped the entire ramekin they gave me into the dish. That was enough to bring it up to tolerable levels of heat. I mean... this level isn't even hot enough to bring tears to my eyes, which in my book is kind of where I want the heat level! Anyway, a good meal, and I went home a happy person.
Wow what a gem! Had great service and the food was to die for. Had the Pho and wife had Pad Thai. Will be coming back soon!!
