I went to el indio on Sunday night and had a pleasant experience per usual. I was in el indio several times while I live about 2 minutes away from the facility. I never had a bad experience here. eating is cheap and serving are great. I have tried some of their menu items including all tacos (hard and soft), fajitas platter, taco salat, chicken bowl, carne asada shell and more and have never been disappointed. the presentation is nothing less than immaculate. eating is always served hot and tasty. the service is fast, I have never waited more than 15 minutes for my eating, even in their busiest nights. they are always super nice and attentive. the restaurant offers only outside seats and despite its liveliness there are always enough seats and the tables always look clean. I believe in the past when they had asked people to wear their masks, but they have recently taken into account the new mandate and the fact that their seats are in open air. if I could judge this place 6 stars, I would.
I'm obsessed with el indio. I love the lightness of the transit Mexican food, and eating itself is absolutely delicious. my friends and I go here every time we need a pick-me-up after a bad day (or celebrate a good day). 10/10 recommend.
I’ve lived here since the 70’s and have enjoyed quite a few of the local menus over the years. I’m sad to say when I went to grab some dinner last night, my disappointment was high in the food we ordered and the service we received. The drive thru line took over 25 minutes even though there weren’t that many people ordering. A car behind us even pulled out of line and left. After we ordered, the car in front of us waited on their order at least 15 minutes at the window. When we finally pulled up they tried to give us someone else’s order after they asked for a tip on the card reader. When we got our food (40.00 worth… I can honestly say it was bland, lukewarm, unremarkable and NOT worth the money we paid. I treat myself occasionally (due to finances) to a meal out but this was not the treat I hoped for…. so money wasted for this month.I lived in New Mexico for two years as a travel nurse and the food there was super cheap and super good….the way you guys use to be.I’m so sorry to see local restaurants that have been declining in the quality and quantity of food for students and working folks alike.Don’t think I’ll be back and don’t know if I’d recommend my co workers and friends anymore. After eating here for over 15 years, our family moved out of the country, to a place where real Mexican food is very hard to come by. We will often say to each other, I'm craving El Indio or I'd do anything for some El Indio right now.. Whenever we visit Gainesville, this is our first stop. So delicious, so affordable. Important tip: Plan to eat everything (especially the hard shell tacos) immediately. Even 10 minutes of sitting in the bag as you drive home and they will be soggy from the salsa fresca, and you will be sad. So, dine in or plan to sit in the parking lot scarfing them down in your car.
