You'll pay about 9.50 for a lamb kebab roll and 9.70 for chicken. Whilst tasty, I found they were quite stingy with salads (even more measured than Subway!) and any sauce other than tomato, BBQ, sweet chilli or Mayo is extra.Standard salads are the usual lettuce, tomato, onion although they include carrot as well. Cheese, mushrooms and pineapple available for a dollar more. A good snack but not overly filling and not the best value I've found in Canberra.
There are not too many places to grab a quick bite when out at CostCo or Woolies at the airport. The kebabs here are quite hit or miss. We grabbed two on Saturday and the one made by the guy was quite good and full of fillings and the one made by the girl was literally less than half the size. Not terribly tasty when compared to other kebabs in the city. Hits the spot if you have to eat but not something that you would go out of your way for.
Origin could improve by not serving large portions of pre-made salad that dries out and looks unappetizing. The kebabs are only average, and there are better options available for those seeking fresh dishes elsewhere.
Had lunch at The DFO store. And was so disappointed. My husband had a chicken kebab, I was undecided on what to buy but it looked tasty. Line up at one of their "order here" spots, turns up I was in the wrong spot. I was standing near the till and this was the area people were waiting for their food. Finally grab the attention of a staff member I ask for a chicken kebab. The server asks me "what sauce?" Not the politest tone, but it was lunch time, his busy. I ask him what he would recommend with chicken and tabbouleh. He was so rude it borderline nasty. "Just look at the sign". I was shocked. Asking "pardon?" He VERY RUDELY pointed at the sauce sign and said "pick a sauce". It was so rude I was embarrassed, several people now looking and silent. I got BBQ sauce. He then snaps what do you want on it. I ask for tabbouleh, lettuce, tomato, onion and cheese. He gives me tabbouleh, a small tong grab of cheese and then so much onion my kebab once rolled was half onion half everything else. I told him it was too much, but he either didn't hear me or didn't careThe only difference between what my husband got and what I got was the tabbouleh, the nasty service and the ridiculous amount of onion. I was charged an additional $4.50.
Pretty typical kebab place Down Under. A smaller location in the Majura Park Shopping Centre. Reasonable price and service, good for a quick meal.
