Cris's Place - Funchal

Impeccable! 10/10 in every way. Food was fresh, beautifully prepared, and outstanding in every way. Staff very kind, never imposing, but there when required. Will certainly be returning to this restaurant. Excellent !!

An excellent night at Cris’s Place. The service is outstanding in our opinion, we chose the concept menus which isn’t extensive but the quality is. This is very much in the style of fine dining. The presentation and taste was spot on, the portions perfect, and (something we particularly like) you are given time to digest each course before the next. The service, as we said, is very professional, and friendly. On the advice of our waiter we immediately booked for Saturday night which is an evening with a classical violinist. We would have no hesitation in recommending Cris’s Place.

We booked for our wedding anniversary and they had laid a table exactly where we would have liked. They were very sweet and service is impeccable. I felt slightly sad about the food itself. We had a fish starter scallops which were cooked ok. But our main and desert were not complimentary in terms of taste and presentation seemed to making up for the lack of cooking skills. I’m sorry to add this but it simply wasn’t very good. Main dish was fish that I hadn’t realised would be battered but the risotto with a squid ink came with Parmesan and seaweed. It was a very odd combination. Desert was a simple chocolate pudding with hot chocolate sauce inside. Pudding batter was below average with too much sauce inside and way too many colours and no real understanding of what the flavours were. I’ve cream has lumps in it. I’m being very critical because for the pricing the simple dishes need to be enhancing and complimentary and I was just too busy and not enough flavour

There was a separate GF menu, but everything else in the main menu could be customized. personal was very knowledgeable
