This is a fantastic place in Maple Lawn! It's refreshing to have an alternative to Starbucks and Dunkin'. The shop fosters a sense of community with its delicious baked goods and transforms into a bar later in the day. The prices were reasonable, and the coffee was excellent. There's plenty of space to work or relax, and the atmosphere is very inviting.
The restaurant has a lovely design and a laid-back atmosphere, but the employees tended to be quite loud while working. I could hear them more than the family sitting right next to me. I understand they are young and energetic, but it might be better if they kept personal conversations and snacks in the back instead of carrying them out front or behind the counter. It’s not necessarily rude, but it can feel somewhat dismissive to guests. That said, the staff is friendly, so it’s not all negative—it just seems like prioritizing cleanliness and a quieter environment should be a focus. When guests have to wipe down tables themselves, it raises questions about cleaning priorities. Arriving at a table with leftover food definitely detracts from what could be a cute and cozy experience. For example, today my table was sticky and had crumbs on it. Additionally, I found the prices to be quite high for what I received. The German chocolate cake I tried only had a small amount of coconut filling, which is one of its best features. While I’m sure the ingredients were high quality, I wish I could have enjoyed more of that flavor. Also, my cappuccino had an excessive amount of foam—almost like I was paying for air. In summary, I believe the restaurant could benefit from improved cleanliness, a quieter atmosphere, and a better focus on quality to enhance the overall experience.
The desserts were disappointing. We ordered the skillet brownie, and it was really bad. It took a long time to arrive, and when it finally did, it was dry and hard. I tried to eat as much as I could since I don’t like to waste food, but it became even tougher as it cooled down, and I ultimately had to throw it away. The gelato on top was nice, but the portion was tiny—like they used those little scoops meant for cookie dough. Given the restaurant's reputation, I expected much better. Honestly, you'd be better off visiting a chain restaurant or bakery for dessert.
I was in the area on Saturday and was very excited to try this place based on the reviews. The service and the staff was amazing. However, the items I purchased were lacking. I ordered the caramel frappe thinking it was a coffee based drink but I tasted neither coffee or caramel. Even the caramel drizzle was lacking in flavor. The drink tasted like a vanilla milkshake my least favorite ever. I stopped drinking after about halfway as it was not what I needed after my long hair appointment. I also bought a slice the lemon berry marscapone cake based on how it looked and it only had a slice or two removed so I thought it would be the freshest. The cake was very crumbly and could not really enjoy a nice moist fork of sponge and berry. The cream was just ok. At $8.95 a slice it is a hard pass. Perhaps the other cakes would be more to my liking but they are severely overpriced. $5.95 per slice tops and I would have bought two. The cheapest item was an everything bagel priced at $2.50 which is fair. It was very good and whether or not they bake it or it is brought in it was very good to eat the next day with a hazelnut divinity COFFEE frappe from my usual spot. I toasted it and used real butter and the texture and flavor was very good. I felt better about my almost $19 purchase. I felt it was so overpriced that I did not tip which is something I always do. I felt bad about that because the young ladies were terrific and treated me as so special. I would return for that reason alone. I love the concept but I don't know how a family of small children could afford to come there more then once in a while. Reduce the prices, create a loyalty card, offer children's specials and it will be a traditional gathering spot on the weekends. For a beautiful Saturday afternoon it was weirdly empty.
