Although this looks like a typical Spanish bar from the outside, it is run by a Chinese girl and her family. They produce great quality Chinese dishes without any fuss or formality. No sea views or fancy linen, but proper food cooked for local returning customers. The food is always fresh, tasty and very cheap. We have many ‘favourite dishes’ and go fairly regularly. Paloma speaks English and is always welcoming. If you have fussy children she will adapt the menu (mine hate onions but love carrots). She also has a loyalty card, giving an ink stamp for every €10 you spend, then collect 10 stamps and you get €10 off you next meal.
Saw coffee advertised at a very competitive price and decided to go in for one. To our surprise we found a menu with lots of Chinese dishes, sandwiches, etc. We have walked by this bar many times, but no way from the outside would you have guessed it offered Chinese food. I ended up having Chicken Chow Mein, which turned out to be excellent. My wife ordered egg and rice, expecting egg and rice, but turned out to be Egg Fried rice. Still tasty enough for her to finish it with some strips of my plentiful chow mein Chicken. The menu Del Dia here is 5.45 Euros, which represents very good value. Most days (except Mondays 8.00-14.00) its open from 8 till 23.30. Seating area outside, where you can often catch the sun. We will definitely return here.
On visiting colleagues at Fuengirola we had several coffee's at Bar Paloma, we enjoyed tapas and best of all we enjoyed a Chinese menu del dia. We were originally attracted there by the provision of free WiFi and also that it was away from the touristy beach front bars. The owner and her husband were very welcoming and friendly. The service was excellent and the place spotless. Our high light was the menu del dia. A large bowl of house special noodles with prawns, served with a drink and finished off with an ice cream all for not much more than €5 per person. I intend to visit this area again in the not to distant future and will definitely check out this bar again.
