The food was really good except for some small things. Especially the salad dressing was delicious. Unfortunately the quality of...my onion roast was in need of improvement. One noticed during the meal that the meat quality was a little bit reduced. The prices go from low to high, you can find something in every price segment. The service was perfectly ok and was mostly fast on the spot, despite the high workload in the beer garden. It is to be recommended in any case again. Parking spaces are available. Whether in the yard or a little outside.
What a great meal and service! Had schnitzel, pork medallions in light cream sauce and a goulash dish. Best spetzle I’ve ever had. Thick gravy’s. Staff was super. Even the rest rooms were nice. Great free parking. Arrived just before dinner rush. Normally these guest...house restaurants are booked up with locals by and this one was but they had a small area for us non reservation types. All the restaurants we looked at in the city were totally booked for reservations only. This restaurant was just on the outskirts of the city. Make sure you see and read the cartoon fable along the walls. In German, but easy to figure out. America has gotten away from good old fables like this. Tipping seems like tipping has changed a bit and is more Americanized now. We were told years back that you just leave a few euros as a thank you. Now a tip is expected and if you received strong service. Sadly, I learned this after I ate here.
I visited the restaurant yesterday with my familiy and my parents-in-law. It was really crowded, so we had to wait a little bit, as we didn't have a reservation. So I really recommend to do so After we ordered our food, my little daugther...wanted to go outside and play a little bit. Before our order arrived, the waiter went outside and informed my wife. Good service. The meals were delicisous and enough. The pricing was fair and the service in total was good. The restaurant itselfs looked like a traditional place with some nice local "stories" painted on the walls.
This resturant also has a hotel attached to it which is a converted mill and still has the water running past it. The rooms are large well laid out warm and comfortable. The bathroom are self contained all plastic units which is a bit odd at...first but this being germany everything works and works well. The breakfast served is excellent and the staff friendly and helpful. We have stayed here twice and would happily stay again. We have also eaten in the restaurant twice, we have had fantastic meals, on the scond occasions the staff even cooked my wife something not on the menu, they also brought us english menu's. The food is very good, filling, well prepared and not that expensive, the restaurant has always been busy when we have been there, which is always a good sign. The only downside is that the Hotel and restaurant is a little bit out of the way, but well worth a trip out.
