We are from San Diego and have lived around great Mexican food for more than 40 years. I only have 4 stars for 2 reasons s: the menu is a little confusing because some of the doors is misnamed. Also, service was SUPER SLOW! We waited over 30 minutes to have our order taken (this place is not that big) and we waited another 30+ to get it. There really was no reason we should have waited that long for either. But the food tasted good. It is a little overpriced, but I was pleasantly surprised at how good it tasted. It was worth the trip but I doubt I will be back.
I really enjoy San Anna's!! They have the most amazing chips (especially when they have a lot of the garlic salt stuff on them and great cheese dip to go with. That is saying something, because I am extremely picky. They also have a nacho snack and pork carnitas that are great. I sometimes drive from Omaha for the chips :D. If you dine in, just be aware that it's not very fast : .
Our waiter gave us the best service I ever had in every restaurant. He was super nice and polite and chatty enough that I felt at home.
The flowering period of SanAnn 'a pizza was in the early 80s when it was in it's original manifestation as Sax 's pizza. The new location is a smaller location, but the original recipes for the cheese dip and pizza sauce, remain the same and definitely worth the trip.
Amazing food, picturesque location and atmosphere!!! I drank a Margarita/sangria Combo, yummo. Total value of 42nd and Grover in Omaha.
