I took a break from my job in Albany to meet up with some great friends in Perth and decided to stay at the stunning National Hotel on the corner of Market and High Street in Fremantle. It had been years since I last visited this beautiful hotel, and it was a coincidence that I found myself there with my friends.
We had dinner on Monday evening in public bar. kürbissalat with chili tofu, mussel in tomaten and chili sauce and scotch filling perfectly seldom cooked with chips and salat. all food fresh, delicious and cheap. good choice of weeping and beer. Highlight...was the music it was to watch and hear ari davis, a most accomplished singer/songwriter and gitarrist. hotel has a warm and friendly atmosphere and security are unobtrusively vigilant to ensure that it remains. just a great night.
Sunday birthday lunch, for a table from above on the beautiful balcony. a lift is provided for all flats in the hotel. weather and visibility were perfect, service and eating was great. after our meal we all made our way into the dachbar, that is really a beautiful place. the lines were quite long at the small bar, so patient. the magnificent view of the city of fremantle and the harbour with the comfortable seating make that worth waiting. perfect on a glorious day as we were blessed with.
I was only looking for a small snack to enjoy with my beer, but the squid I ordered was disappointingly rubbery and lacking in flavor. It seemed as though it had been sitting in a freezer for too long before being hastily fried and served to us. It's a shame to see such low-quality seafood being served in a restaurant located in a fishing port with access to fresh, delicious options. After that disappointing experience, we decided to go elsewhere for our main meal.
