Flying U Grill - Fredonia

This national monument has set up various scenes around the property that give you an idea of the space and objects available to the early residents. It is amazing how history can become alive with just a few details. I really saw the cop and the moles back in the time it could be. The tour the Fort was excellent and our guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. worth a visit

This is a fantastic place to visit. The fort is impressive, featuring multiple levels and offering a wonderful depiction of its historical significance. You can see a statue of a cop with large horns alongside a mule. There’s also an easy short trail behind the fortress that provides a stunning view and is suitable for small children and some older adults. We visited during the COVID-19 pandemic, and there was no entrance fee; however, masks were required inside the fort.

The office may be closed, but you can still stop by. There's a lovely video to check out!

This is a beautiful small park, unique in that they have some cattle (a horse and a cow) and cultivated vegetable gardens in accordance with the history of the site as Mormon Ranch facility. We went in August 2020. The visitor center was closed to walkable traffic, but Rangers were on site to provide information and the toilets were open. We enjoyed our walk through the website.

Quite an unusual place in the middle of nowhere. The sign along the highway caught my attention and we just had to stop, more for curiosity than anything else. It's the kind of place where you might spend an hour, to break up the drive on Highway 389 in the Fredonia area. There are park rangers there and some volunteers to demonstrate how things were done by the settlers there. A fort is also on-site and yes, there is a small spring providing water. The spring itself is basically underneath the fort but a pipe brings water from it to some holding basins. There is a nice visitor center on-site (closed due to COVID). It's nice to just walk around the place a little and stretch your legs. It's very, very quiet there. I suppose in the summer it's pretty unbearable but the temps in November make it quite pleasant.
