Aviators Cafe - Franz Josef Glacier

Seven of us dined together—four adults and three children. We picked this restaurant specifically for its gluten-free options. We shared and sampled each other’s meals, and the flavors were truly impressive; we were all blown away by every dish. If you find yourself in town, it's definitely worth a visit. P.S. The spice levels were manageable for all of us, and not everyone in our group enjoys spicy food.

The food and flavors at this restaurant are fantastic! We enjoyed the stir-fried beef noodles with vegetables and the chicken and cashew nut stir-fry with chili, along with some steamed rice. Each dish was bursting with amazing flavors, and the meat was incredibly tender. The portion sizes were generous as well. I highly recommend this restaurant if you're in Franz Joseph—you won’t regret it! Also, the staff is wonderfully friendly, and the prices are reasonable, not overly expensive.

We had a fantastic meal! My two friends and I are biking the Tour Aotearoa and were in need of a hearty, delicious meal. We were extremely pleased with both the service and the food. I would definitely dine here again!

Avoid this place! The food was disappointing—the fish had a jelly-like texture, and we even found cardboard on the plate. I’m still searching for any hint of garlic in the garlic bread... it was terrible!

Gordon Ramsay should consider visiting this restaurant someday! I had the worst experience. The lamb shank was completely flavorless and seemed like it had been cooked straight from the freezer. The food from the wok was better. The restaurant was understaffed, with only one waiter trying to manage all the tables. When I requested an extra fried rice, he refused, prioritizing other tables instead. They also added a 15% surcharge for the Christmas season, but it won’t be reflected on the bill.
