Azzurro is located in the Westend of Frankfurt (a minute walk from the Marriott...Frankfurt and probably also minute walk from the Alte Oper more or less). Menu has great choices, and the taste of all is also amazing. Very much recommended to eat, will be back next time around!
We made a reservation for pax. Waiter suggested to order antipasto and pasta to share to make it easier and quicker for the kitchen… while food was good surprise was that receipt was doubling menu prices reaching as high as per pax without...any wine. We complained and even called police who came but no chance to correct the abuse. “Plates to share are not listed”. Restaurant mafia to be avoided.
I am eating here regularly since years and always enjoyed it. They offer well-priced lunch menus and a bit pricier dinner dishes. Although they specialize in sea food, they have an appealing array of non-seafood traditional cuisine. The waiters are nice as well, complementing...your experience with suitable suggestions for whines, grappa etc. After the years they know you by name and it feels like eating with family. The pro is definitely reasonably priced dishes and relaxed atmosphere in the chic wested area where you usually run into the occasional upscale fancy italian full of stiff bankers.
Very poor and slow service. than for a starter and a main corse. Extremely expensive. Never more!
Recommended by our hotel, our first impressions were positive: charming, upscale and intimate. But lack of class turned enjoyment to annoyance, the best part of the restaurant became leaving it. Too cool for outside dining, patrons were shoehorned in; sardines do worse, but not by...much. And they suffer less, after all, they're dead. We were seated in a sunny window table for but were soon asked to move to a small, dark two, as a large party had made arrangements that required our table. Back by the hot and smoky kitchen, the temperature began to rise, requiring two escapes to prevent an asthmatic response. The truffle pasta dish had terrific pasta, the sauce was a bit commercial tasting. Too long later our sole showed up, which we needed to infuse to facilitate our escape. Main problems were kitchen size and staff, and insufficient numbers of, and poorly trained waiters.
