Coming off a flight from SFO, I was delighted to see a Nespresso machine and four espresso pods in the tiny kitchenette. Here are a few random comments on the hotel and my room: On the 22nd floor where the lobby is located, there's a smoking lounge. The door to the room is typically left open; accordingly, there's a foul stale tobacco smell in the part of the 22nd floor where conference rooms are located. Yuck! The WiFi is free, but not super fast. I got a download speed of 1.0 Mbps and an upload speed of 2.8 Mbps. (This was a surprise because typically uploads are slower than downloads! Measuring the connection speed was a fun activity, but it maxed out my daily WiFi data allotment of 500MB! Fortunately for me, a kind staff member on the 22nd floor blessed my account so that I could log back in to the WiFi system. When I checked in, I was made to wait near the reception desk on the 22nd floor for about five minutes I couldn't just go to my room but needed to be accompanied by a staff member who would show me how things work. The staff member was somewhat helpful but actually gave me incorrect answers to the two questions that I asked: First, I pointed out that it was hot in the room and asked how I could lower the temperature. The staff member told me to rotate the temperature dial on the ventilation system to make the room cooler. What she failed to mention was the on off switch for the system. After I found it on my own, things were good. Next, I asked where I could plug in my laptop while it was on my desk. The staff member saw no nearby outlet and recommended that I move the laptop elsewhere in the room to charge it when it needed juice. In fact, there was a panel on the floor under the desk that concealed an unused outlet. Once I pried it open, I was fine. The room keys are prox cards that are needed to direct an elevator to the guest room floors. The card reader at the hotel entrance (0th floor wasn't working during my visit. (Maybe it never works. The only way for me to get to my floor from the street level was to go first to the 22nd floor, exit the elevator, swipe my card on the 22nd floor and then get back into an elevator. Innside it's complicated.
On our old world tour of Austria and Germany, this was the new world stop. If you weren 't in the know , you would never know this hotel is here. It is located on 6 floors in a modern glass high-rise. It was even more hidden as the lobby is under construction and a backdoor is the entry point from the street. On top of this, you have to climb 2 flights of stairs to get to an elevator. Thank goodness they had someone to carry my luggage. I would have had to sleep on the street otherwise. From what I saw of Frankfurt, I wouldn 't have been alone. :-0 Once inside, I was whisked up to the 22nd floor for the reception desk. They appeared to be organized and ready for me. The elevators are so modern, they don 't even have buttons but more on them later. We were quickly given our room key and instruction on how everything works... yes, we did need instruction to get up to and in our room. Once inside, it was all clean lines, glass and stainless. It took me a day to figure our how to open close the blinds located outside the glass. Too cool! The room was very comfortable and the first time we saw AC inn many days. All was good until the next morning. We had plans to get out early but when we tried the elevators were out of service. We were on the 24th floor... walking down was possible but we planned to come back. When we called the front desk, we were told it was the monthly test and they would be back in 15 minutes. An hour later, they still were not back and we were not happy. After a trip on the freight elevator and much discussion, we were offer breakfast for te inconvenience. Thank you All in all, this was a comfortable room if you can overlook a few awkward aspects I 'm going to attribute to the ultra-modern design.
This was my first stay at Innside in Frankfurt and to be honest I selected it for convenience (3 minute walk to my office) over anything else...although it was recommended by a colleague. Innside is definitely a boutique hotel with a great location and sweeping views of Frankfurt...from the elevators which are on the outside of the building (very cool) to the restaurant bar and the rooms themselves. The room was quite spacious and functional, although I never did figure out how to run the capsule shower without getting water on the floor when I entered. The only negative on the room was the lack of convenient power outlets. You generally had to pull lamp cords out of sockets in order to plug in more than one device. The breakfast (included with the room) was average...nothing to write home about compared to other European hotels. However, as a benefit there is a Starbucks about 10 feet from the entrance to the hotel. Additionally for dinner one would most likely want to venture out as the restaurant only has 6 entree options...and the options are exactly the same on the room service menu. Overall, I was pleased with my stay at Innside and I would most certainly stay there again.
Attention to reservations about Open Table, it is a security rating of 90 euros per person due to a minimum turnover. Doesn't mean how much you eat, the 90 euros are gone. Even if the bar is very pricey, it is difficult to reach the value (even if you do not consume alcoholic beverages)
Minimum consumption is much too high if you do not drink alcohol and only have 3 cocktails to choose from. Menu for the bar is expandable. Okay, look, if you sit in the lounge.
