I?ve had this dish before other places and looked up recipes to verify what should be in it. A little Parmesan cheese but not gobs of whatever stinky kind ofcheese overpowered this dish. For the high prices charged you expect all the food to be delicious. The waitress wasn?t friendlyso I didn?t want to complain, also because it embarrasses my husband if I do. My daughter loved her walleye pike and that wasgood with the buttery beurre sauce (vegetables on side were tasteless though), but my husband said his gypsy schnitzel was likeeating cheap pork beans in too much sauce, so he was disappointed for the price he paid as well. He picked the wrong schnitzelthere perhaps. He didn?t want to complain but I wish we had said something once I saw the bill.Anyway, it will be a long timebefore we come back. I?m sure if I would?ve picked the potato pancakes I would not have been let down.
Best meal I?ve ever had, period. Reuben, Jager Schnitzel w/Swiss cheese, German potato salad, red cabbage, potato pancakes and strudel. Best I?ve had. I have no doubt this is served in heaven.
If you're not hungry, don't waste your time and money here. The bread assortment with bleu cheese and cinnamon butters was a standout, but the sausage plate was room temperature and the German mustard and strong horseradish did not improve it. Servicewas okay. Not worth $95+ tip to me to see the collection.
I don 't know where to start. First off, the decor and feel of this place is right out of mud 20th Century Bavaria. Tons of historical German memorabilia here. A historians wet dream! I lived it! Michael our server was TOP NOTCH! He helped us withmenu choices and his knowledge of the menu was very helpful. I had Liver Dumpling Soup and the Gypsy Steak . The portions wereHUGE but everything was amazing. I topped it off with a delicious pint of their Amber Beer and I was done! I took more than halfof the food home (yes there was that much) and enjoyed for lunch the next day. I spent $117 for two HUGE plates of food (thesteak was huge), appetizers, dessert, and drinks. It was worth every penny. EVERY PENNY!!! Anytime I 'm back in Town I 'll bepaying Chef Klaus ' Bier Stube a visit. A fun and delicious experience. PS The live German music was a great touch as well. And if you want the duck, it 's only on weekends and get their early! Gus
It was packed. Thankfully had reservations. Service a bit slow but that?s how it is. Better that because they we?re swamped. Food was really great and portions huge. Really good place. Worth the trip.
