We were excited to attend this restaurant but had our child fall ill the evening due to attend. I emailed the restaurant to apologise for the no show a few days later, as they proceeded to charge me £100 for a no show fee! Stating they're unable to refund despite circumstance, and the amount seems very excessive. Visitors beware!

Fabulous restaurant that 3 of us visited this week whilst on holiday. Great food and atmosphere; with lovely service and house rose. Thoroughly recommended.

Why 3 Stars? The restaurant is stylish and the food is of high quality. The service, while not the fastest, was warm and friendly. However, the main issue is the relationship between prices and portion sizes, which felt outrageous. With only four main dishes to choose from, it was challenging to find something that appealed to other diners in my group. Fitzroy had a somewhat pretentious vibe, almost experimental, and seemed very self-involved in a philosophical sense. It brought to mind an American sketch comedy show called Portlandia (a somewhat obscure reference). One memorable episode featured affluent diners with bizarre requests at a restaurant that caters to such clientele. The warm service helped mitigate any attitude problems, but the restrictive menu and exorbitant prices were apparent. The kitchen is skilled, but unfortunately, it doesn't offer good value. In the end, it simply felt absurd.

The atmosphere is stylish yet relaxed, creating a comfortable dining experience without any pretentiousness. They offer a well-curated wine list featuring selections from small organic vineyards. The menu is concise, focused on fresh, local ingredients, and is simply outstanding. The service is impeccable without being intrusive. This restaurant is a true gem. Price per person: £50–60.
