Soggy chips, fish tasted like it was caught from a sewer and the owner smelled like she crawled from said sewer. Owner appeared drunk, swaggering around with a bottle of champagne with some weird chalkboard menu selling lizards and something to do with a fried bridge? Absolute vile creature Avoid this place.

As a regular, all-year-round single OAP customer, I called in this evening for my usual treat of a small portion of chips to eat with my dinner at home. The young assistant presented my order in an open bag and looked nonplussed when I asked for it in a box so I could take it home in the car (a ten-minute drive). Her older colleague said: ‘just chuck it in a bag,’ shook open a plastic carrier bag, demonstrated the chucking part, rolled up the bag into a ball and handed the result to me. I was so shocked, I simply thanked her and left, clutching my obviously not-worth-the-bother treat. My hands were still shaking when I reached home. Always remember, the smallest order still puts money in the till, courtesy costs nothing and loyal customers don’t grow on trees.

Ridiculously inconsistent. Has been slowly raising its standards over the last year, but today shows it may have been all luck. Cold, spongy, far from fresh chips. Paid extra for a large fish supper, and got what would be a small at best, with a sad little chunk thrown on at the side. Batter was soggy and stuck to the box lid. Can be decent food at Mcgintys, but it's a lucky dip. Pay your money and take your chance, but I'm done. £20 is too much to throw away on the scraps I bought tonight.

Very disappointed: fish was ok but the chips were the worst I've ever had. At £7.65 they were overpriced.

Proper Fast food meal was ready in minutes and very tasty it has been a bit hit or miss recently but I have to say on this visit the fish and chips were excellent after a long wait at another takeaway in Avoch whereby I eventually gave up on waiting , I was very hungry and impatient but the staff were friendly and happy to oblige with speedy service and a smile ?
